G'day all,
Got an '89 sierra, spoa fitted.
Done a bit of searching... My new tires hit the bull bar mounts when they turn. I'm assuming i get the angle grinder out and cut the outer mounts off to allow for the bigger tires?
It has a ARB bar on it to, then same thing with the brackets on that?
Stupid question i know, a bit of advice would be appreciated. Would i be better finding someone with an oxy welder to cut them off?

Yes, that's what you do.
NEVER recover off the ARB bar after you do this though - it's only there to hold the indicators once those outer brackets come off unless you do some fabrication to strengthen the chassis and chassis mounts.

IT's qiuite possible to strengthen the chassis enough to recover/winch off an ARB bar with the outriggers cut off, but mines not and it's all loose and floppy. Unless you want to winch off it, I wouldn't bother with the work. It will involve chassis welding so requires engineer approval to be legal - prob. not worth the effort.

Funnily enough I never had a problem with the holes in the chassis rails but the bottom holes in the mounts opened up after being dragged up hill a few times. Then got it gusseted between the mounts and the cross member which passed scruiteneering for a comp, but wasn't engineeredGwagensteve wrote:

Make up some of these (you get the idea)

Thanks for the advice. I would like to throw a winch in the bar eventually... I might just hack off the outrigger bar mounts for now then worry about that bridge when i get to it.
I spose you can always put metal back cant ya!!
The whole thing needs to be engineered at some stage, again, cross it when i have to...
