No, you can spay it. Just thin it down with thinners. Like said above just do several thin coats. If you try and do thick coats it will look like shit!Slunnie wrote:I don't ever recall spraying it. It may possibly be too thick for that.
We just brush or roll it on.

You can still put it on with a brush or a roller no worries. I'm just pointing out that if you want to spay it you can.thehanko wrote:I thought half the benfit of hammer tone was it made its own finish so you didnt need to spray it to get the same effect?

You will get the best result with Laquer thinner . It will make it tack off quick and it will require a gradual build up of coats , doesn't like being sprayed when cold , it will bloom or go whitish , also use the sun to heat it up and allow it to totally dry betwwen coats , Cheers Paul.
P.s. Mix really well.

I use it all the time. White Knight is my preferred brand but it's horses for sourses. It gets sprayed on all my made up farm gear and ute mods. As said before build it up because it can run and look pretty crappy if put on too thickly.
You can spray or paint but I have found spraying is easier and gives a better finish. Always use the best thinners you can afford, not turps (made that mistake once
). Also as said before it doesn't like being applied cold. Leave the job and the paint tin in the sun to warm up. Makes a big diff'.

Too much thinners and the final finish looks like sh*t. More like a runny, stringy turd.Harb wrote:I have only ever sprayed it...... like said, only thin it enough to get it through the gun....
