Front shackle bushes

Post by dale147 »

G'day, I'm rebuilding my MQ SWB Patrol and looking to put in new bushes into the front shackles. What's the easiest way to go about this? Doesn't look like they've been done for a while. Any ideas much appreciated.

Cheers

buy new ones and replace the old ones....

I would suggest factory rubber bushes, urathane tend to squeak alot, there is a variation on the mk/mq, some have a brass washer in the bush set up, and it is best to get this set up if it is the OE set up otherwise they can develop a wobble.
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!

i cut off my brass mounts and put new ones back an inch or sowith long shackels. New mounts are superior and run a rubber bush that trim down the length to fit. the bushes i use cost about $11 for 4 from super crap.

Handles like crap on the rd, But no wobbles , etc. Just likes to wander like my eyes on a great looking gal. .

Worth it i reckon, But some people hate the handling.

i have a small problem with the front spring bushes.
I have kings 2" lift springsthe front bush is mq type bush but, the mq bush is to narrow to go the width of the spring as the springs are wider the standard mq springs there the width of mk springs.
So where do i get the right bushes for the springs

Thanks guys, changed them out this afternoon and put in urethane ones. Only took about 15 minutes each. Still getting a bad death shake come up around 80kmh so there's still something else to do.

Cheers
