are there any known problems that exist with these trucks ???
i didnt buy to hard core 4wd just want to find out what the main hassles are with them
the truck has 280k on the clock (i know its heaps ) and the heads appear to have been removed

280K's is gettin on a bit but if it's been looked after should get a lot more out of it.
400K or so is not unheard of..................
There's been a few write ups over the years in 4x4 mags on Tritons and they suggest there are no inherent problems except normal wear and tear.
They are built pretty tough and share a lot of the Paj running gear.
Maybe some of the ute dudes can chime in with more details.
But to my knowlege they are a tough reliable ute.
