80 series flares

Post by tennismark »

I got my first battle damage over the weekend and my front left flare is hanging on by 1 connector tab. So now it looks as I need a new or used factory flare . Where would you recommend to get 1. I have started calling some wreckers, but there maybe a good 1 I don;t know about.
If you got some ifno, would like to hear about it.
thanks guy's

do you still have all the tabs? is the flare ectually smashed or is the shell ok and just the tabs are torn out? remove all the bits, clean them up with some brake cleaner or similar, and then glue the bits back together with a quailty neutral cure silicone. use plenty. it sticks well and is flexible. it doesn't have to be perfect, the mounting holes have some slop.

you can't really remove and leave off the factory flares since the fenders have holes all through them.

I've done something similar using a hot glue gun. Seems to work for a while but the main problem is the mud flap at the bottom. Once this gets caught on something, it pulls the flare away from the car with it. I've trimmed the mudflap down to avoid getting it caught on anything and that has helped. Just trim the bottom section to about half its size, if you make it round it looks factory.
