Auto 1.6 Vitara gear ratios
I think that's right, except you don't have the converter multiplication ratio in there - I think it's 2.4 for the AW-4, so you're acutally at 63:1 as a manual equivalent.
CJ, can you confirm that ratio is correct?
Steve.

Cheers, is the convertor torque ratio needed for using engine revs to work out road speed? How much loss occurs before the convertor is coupled/locked?
One(two) Last thing(s).
Does the Cal 5.83's bolt onto Air locker centers with out any probs?
Also the 5.83's are listed as "Temporarily Discontinued" any looked into it?

No, the converter ratio only applies up to stall speed, so once rolling the slip is negligable (around 150rpm) However, you also have a converter lock so under light throttle/cruise, your converter will be locked so there's zero slip to allow for.
5.83 calminis? These haven't been available since time began. Cj has done lots of research into these. They don't exist and I don't think they've existed for about 4 years. There were issues between calmini and Richmond, who were making them, I think, and I don't think you'll be seeing any in the future.

even when the 583s did exist they had some durability issuses as they were made quite soft to keep the dentist drill burr .. I mean pinion gear in one piece for more that 10 seconds of hard use.
