Feroza Front CV/upright Seal

Post by MightyMouse »

Just for infos sake.

There's a seal at the back of the front upright that prevents water getting into the bearings via the outer CV. Its hidden by a metal slinger on the CV. Its not part of a standard wheel bearing replacement kit as its technically not part of the bearing package.

Most people wouldn't even know its there but it deserves attention if your doing a front hub overhaul. Cost $7.50 each

1 each side - twin lip, 55mm OD, 42mm ID, 7mm Thick.

Its not listed by the common bearing suppliers but rest assured its the one.

Also the bronze bush that supports the outer CV where it goes through the upright is listed as "Not Replaceable" by Daihatsu. It is removable with gentle tapping. You can't buy a new one but its a simple machining job and is MUCH cheaper than a new upright. Its unlikely to give trouble, but now you know.....
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.
