As a UK spectator I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed watching the OBC 08.

Had the pi$$ taken out of my Land Rover 110 by some of the Jap CRAP drivers but found the spectators/shepherds/marshalls/competitors to be very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend people to come and spectate at future OBCs. Saw some awesome countryside, some superb driving and seeing the grit and determination of some drivers to complete the event was marvellous. I take my hat off to all the competitors.

From my point of view the event was let down by the lack of communication from the organisers.

If any of you see a UK registered Land Rover at the Cliff Hanger event come and say hello and have a cold/warm beer.

Met you at Silverton for a beer after the event. Look forward to having a beer with you at the Cliffhanger. Don't worry about the Jap cars we Land Rover owners need to stick together. Look out for the orange Range Rover competiting for the fourth year at the Cliffhanger. Cheers Gary

What a fantastic week!!!!!

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone that offered words of support, we really appreciate it. Thank you Shane for your updates on here, top job. Next time we catch up there will be something more in your can of coke. There is certainly no better community to be in.

Congratulations to Adrian and Alan, Todd and Ivan and Neil and Chris....
Thanks to the competitors throughout the week, it is great to mix with such a wonderful bunch, Group D was awesome, we had a real laugh. I don't think it would have been as comical if Krimnl had his turbo, the comentary in the sand was one of the highlights.
Special thanks goes to the marshalls and our passage controllers for making the week run so smoothly. You guys are tops!!
We drove the family wagon home, she didn't miss a beat after the flogging we gave her, took the scenic route home as this is our annual holiday and got home Wednesday night. We were very fortunate this year with no breakages other than an engine mount. Will have to see about 24 volt winch in the future I think.
It was really good to compete in the 10th anniversary with the likes of Celia and Eugene and Barry and Sue, they will be sorely missed.

Now that all the dust has settled....there is one v. important/sad side to this year.
Roger Smith, the Rangie Legend and gentleman of the Sport and competitor of many OBC's past, lost his beloved wife last week, after her long fight with Breast Cancer. We were all told on Sat. morning and a minute's silence was observed in her memory.
I'm sure you all join us in conveying our Deepest Sympathy to Roger and his family.

What tyres and size would you recommend for a suzuki sierra
What suspension set up
Does it pay to go slow and decide which is the best path or just use a bit of the right boot and hope all goes well?

You'll need to read the CCDA rules, they're available on line, and decide which class you want to compete in.

By the way, well done in getting 5th place, and with the blown turbo, fantastic effort mate.

We blew the turbo on our first stage after the quarry stages, so we raced the whole week with no power. we couldnt even sit on 100kmph on the road it just didnt have the grunt.

The car went on the dyno today in its as finished condition and made 42kw @ 3400rpm road speed was about 75kmph at peek power.

I think tthe best thing to do is not to use a zook due to its small size.
Ill probably wait a couple of years to get some more experiance before i compete as i dont want to get out there and not know what the heck im doing.

That BBQ rocked. But that would have to be the best eating I have had out of the 3 yrs I have been there. Roast night was the best meal. To bad I was still crook and couldn't eat much of it.
Also Steph and Jason be organized with bring lunch out also rocked.

Wish I had a pretty red shirt or jumper though.

Unfortunately the Merc boys had probs from the Prologue and missed the majority of the week sadly doing repairs. Not fun when you think they'd spent a fortune entering from South Africa.
