chip upgrade for gu wagon

Post by rogantriton »

hay guys. i have a 2.8l intercooled turbo diesel gu wagon, 2.5" lift, 2.5" exahust and 33" muddies. i am looking at upgrading the chip in it so i can get a bit more power and grunt when im off road. i have looked at the ARB / safari Dtronic chip and it seems pretty good.

i was woundering if anyone knows of anyother chips that are just as good if not better than the Dtronic but still around the same price range (im looking at a max of 2grand)

any info would be greatly appreciated

cheers tom

We use a Rapid Chip as it is fully tuneable, the 2.8 is a highly stressed engine from standard be careful how hard you push.

Haven't seen them, not much cheaper than most though the DP chip offers similar tuning with a dip switch, ours is definetly more flexible. We recently did a 3.0L hilux and replaced the Dtronic chip, fitted a roller bearing tubo (removed the stock one) and fitted an intercooler which got us from 60 rwkW to 108 rwkW, due to the BB turbo and cooler we had the flexibility to add more fuel to match the greater air flow. Ours has fuel level, activation point as well as fuel ramp rate for smooth transition.
