remote central locking sweettt!

Post by Slayer »

well picked up a central locking kit from jaycar.. 1 master 3 slaves, 40 bucks.. not remote, but has the capacity to be wired into alarm systems. did some testing and found the 2 wires out of the alarm relay that have a 1 second negitive swich current to work the central.. well about 4 hours later the lux is all sweet with keyless central locking.. very cool.. and all for 40 bucks!.. would recomend it, even if you dont go remote (80 bucks more) its handy just to have all doors opening on the turn of 1 key!

I got a similar kit from Jaycar at Aspley Qld for $30 just a few weeks ago - however mine came with 2 masters and 2 slaves, not just 1 master. Might pay for others to look out for the one I got - no offence.

Either way, I agree too - well worth it, easy to install and lots of fun to play with. Lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock. Woo hoo! Look ma, no hands!

(Yeah, I am easily amused.)

I've got a shorty so I had a spare slave solenoid even after I wired the rear door.

Yep, there are two door and four door kits.

However, since the whole shebang is only $30, you might as well get yourself two spare 12V solenoids... you never know what you'll want to be able to operate remotely.

You could set it up so you can pop up the Aussie flag when you use the horn or something :)

dude if your usin remote u dont need more than 1 master, only advantage a master has over a slave is triggering other doors when opperated, who needs that when u got it all on the beeper man??- no offence..

True! I didn't spring for an alarm system as well though. I just like being able to make the locks go up and down from either side of the car.

:)

I'll get an alarm eventually I guess.

I wasn't being funny when I said "no offence" - I just meant $10 less and an extra master solenoid (they're worth more) would be worth looking out for.

I bought the central locking kit 2 or 3 years ago when I first got my hilux as the key won't open the driver's door. I soon got sick of opening the passengers door and climbing over to pull up the button on the drivers door. So I bought the kit with one slave and one master but for my application I needed 2 masters so I refunded the slave and got a master instead.

The same day I bought an alarm so that I could have a remote keyless entry but the alarm is still sitting in my bedroom.

Mine stuffs up all the time :D It won't work in the rain. A little bit of rain is ok if the car isn't being driven but the force of the driving rain gets in somewhere and stuffs things up. My passenger side also forgets to do the master thing and tell the other one to pop up. Usually the shock of turning the key violently does it or I'll just hit the door in the vascinity of the lock and it'll work. Now it has even stopped doing that  I'm back to manual at the moment. Oh and when it does work, the drivers side button goes up too far and and comes out the top of the guide so you have to realign it before it will go down.

So you may have guessed that the fitting didn't go exactly to plan :D

If you want to hook up to a remote or alarm, Jaycar sells a relay unit to do it for about $30 I think.

DON'T BUY IT

You can do it yourself with 2 normal 12V relays. I've done it for 2 different cars now but never drawn the diagram. If anyone is interested I'll fire up the old MS paint and try and draw something that makes sense

Unless it's moved since I went north, Jaycar's at Springvale, at that big-assed junction.

It'd cost you about $99 for a basic alarm incl. remote.

i dont get wat your saying man??.. either u buy the 40 buck central locking kit like me, and its just 2 wires to hook it up to your existing alarm if u have one... or u gota either put an alarm in, or u can just buy a remote central locking kit.. i dont see where 2 normal 12V relays gets you remote central locking without already having, or buying a remote kit somewhere along the way??
