98 HILUX HUB SEALS

Post by Andy_M1 »

I wonder if any can help. I am looking for seals that go on the steering knuckle on IFS 98 Hilux. I've been to 2 bearing shops and a driveline specialist and none of can help. Toyota want $108 for the outer one (dust seal) and $72 for the inner (grease seal) making it $360 to do both sides. The outer dust seal bolts on with 7 small bolts and the inner is a normal type press in seal with a dust flange.
There's got to be a cheaper way.

You can order heavy duty inner axle seals off some off-road part sites for around $15 each mate

Just tell them you want the ones for IFS and your utes year model etc and they might be able to help.

I just did my hub seals / inner axle seals etc on the 80 series. Whole kit for front and rear cost bout $150 (I think.... bought it 6 months ago) from Terrain Tamer / Sunstate 4wd. Check them out, they should be able to help or at least point you in the right direction.

You should be able to get these seals seperately from Repco or CBC. Give them a ring. Prices should be fairly reasonable.

Thanks for the replys. It is actually the outer CV shaft seal where it goes into the back of the steering knuckle at the wheel. And the one on the other side of the steering knuckle from that. CBC and Repco were no help either. Here is a couple of pics.
