starter motor

Post by chunderlicious »

fitting a ford 5.0 windsor to my pootrol and the headers i made are hitting the starter (its the size of a small house) so im going to get a high torque mini starter. the only problem is that the only ones i can find have the solenoid on the bottom. is this going to be a problem? it will be gaurded if it hangs too low but is it still a bad idea to have the starter upside down?
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

Can't help with your fitting problem, however I would advise you shield it from the extractor heat as much as possible... the standard starters don't like the heat for sure, dunno what the replacement will be like..
