I was at Pick'n'Payless last week and there was a late model 1L sierra hard top there (circa 87).
While searching to see if there was any tools i found out that the pasenger seat doesn't slide back and forward but rather unclips and folds the entire seat forward. It appeared not to have the option of slide adjustment. (i guess you have to own one or seen one to understand it)
The point is it made getting in and out of the back REALLY easy. Is this something common to all hardtops? or just the earlier ones? or just 1lts?
If i can get a bolt in swap for my Soft top i think i would gladly sacrifice the adjusment of my front passenger

HAY ! My mummy works there So i get to jump on them b4 everyone sees the poor little sierras! I got the 1L airbox out of that silver 1L And i was looking over it for more bits. Someone took 1 rear leave.....Its lost me why anyone would want one rear leaf!
My 91WT Sierra has this seat setup too. As far as I can tell, its factory.
As I am about to fit some new seats (not sure what sort yet, but I am going too regardless) I have a question:
Is the floor different on Sierras with the "rat trap' passenger seat, compared with Sierras that dont have it?

I have been looking at this and thinking that it looks like it may be a more of a PITA when it comes to bolting new seats in (unless I just bolt the new seat on to the 'rat trap'???)... I have not heard the 'rat trap' spoken about in previous threads that talk about fitting new seats...
So, is my floor the 'standard zook issue' or not?

Yeah thats what mine has 84 NT Sierra, all I did for the bucket seat on that side was add some 8mm plate and offset it slighly and it works well. I wreckon its pretty cool because I was using the plate I was also able to off set the seat further back as well to let my taller passengers fit in a little better.
This pic its not bolted in was just sitting in there to see if it would work.
It looks like it will all work out OK then... I like the rat trap, cos it allows easy access to the Esky! (Very important!)
Perhaps the rat trap is more of an NT thing? Who else has one in a WT / Late model Sierra? Does anyone know what the whole story is with these things? (Just for interest sake.)

Is your passenger seat a few inches lower than your drivers seat? If not, how is the same height of the two seats achieved? (or have I not understood you properly..)

I understand that the bolt holes are the same (or close enough) on the 'rat trap' and the 'sliding rail' fixed floor mounts.
The reason for my question is because from what I understand, you could not put a 'rat trap' in the passenger side of a zook that currently has a 'sliding rail' passenger set-up (without removal of the metal floor seat mounts as seen in my DRIVERS SIDE pic). It would sit way too high! (in fact you would need a soft top so that your head didn't hit the roof! )
Does that clear up my question?

the "Rat Trap" appears in 1.0 litres and other "base model" cars (Like NT drovers) that don't have factory reclining seats.
The easiest way to know is if it has high back seats or not. Low back seats= rat trap.
They will (basically) bolt into any sierra on the passenger side only, except hardtop utes. Highback 1.3 seats will bolt on to the rattrap.
The holes to mount them on are in all Sierra floors, but the holes are covered by tape on most cars.
In some cases, depending on where you want the seat, you might need to drill 2 more holes.
IMHO they are much better than the stock tilt/slide setup on later cars, but they might not put the seat back far enough for tall passengers. Also, with highback seats, clearance gets tight when they are tilted.
They also, *just* allow an optima to be installed on an angle behind the passenger seat.

In the lil blue 1.0 my ex had was fitted with these, I fitted in the passanger seat OK at 190cm.
