SPOA or BODY LIFT???
SPOA or BODY LIFT???
Hi guys
just planing to do a bit of work to my 98 hardtop sierra with in the next 2 months, or when i get the cash. i have a 2" suspension lift and gearmaster reduction gears ( 128% low about 10% in high). i would like to upgrade from my 30s to 33s with offset rims and i thought of a 2" body lift and cutting my flares would fit them in easy, I've also thought about a SPOA conversion. What are advantages of the SPOA to the body lift, performance and price?
Any advice on getting this engineered in QLD?
cheers

um where is the flaming. I answered him and suggesting a search also is not flaming but pointing out that this is a very common question and is covered in the bible and a quick search provides the answer as well.lexplay wrote:im sure he means a 88 and i think he asked the question in a pretty good manner so i dont think you should flame up and do the whole search thing especially since the suzuki thread has been so dead latelly.
Man some people must be pretty thin skinned if they reckon that is flaming

Lift your arch's up as far as possible then stuff some tires under them. Bodylift and SPOA are both a no go in QLD. The spoa is too high anyway with the lifted springs (Total of about 6 inches!). Virtual lift is your friend..
Have you got powersteer to turn 33's?
Have you got locked front and rear?
Have you got upgraded axles?
Have you got the front diff pushed forwards at all?
Have you go some butterscotch lollies for me?
Let us know some more detail and we can help...

Whats wrong with the bible, it only works if people send me links they want added. If you want to make the bible better, dont just whinge do something about itlexplay wrote:im sure he means a 88 and i think he asked the question in a pretty good manner so i dont think you should flame up and do the whole search thing especially since the suzuki thread has been so dead latelly.
Honestly, search for your answer then ask a question if you dont find what your looking for. This has been done to death.

well seeing as he has said its a 98 in another thread it's looking more like a 98 or he may be dyslexiclexplay wrote:im sure he means a 88 and i think he asked the question in a pretty good manner so i dont think you should flame up and do the whole search thing especially since the suzuki thread has been so dead latelly.

Though considering the mis-match of parts a Maruti is, your still guessing in the end

Oh we just need to go eat another slice of pie... 30 more mintues, then i'm off to Kakadu for a three day fishing trip.grimbo wrote:and all this guesswork would be null and void if he had done any sort of search or even called QLD authorities to find out the legalities of this
I think the best answer to all of this has already been said. It's illegal, illegal, illegal...

" If governments are involved in the covering up the knowledge of aliens, Then they are doing a much better job of it than they do of everything else "
haha that woke everyone up.
i know its been coverd lots but new stuff does get invented every so often.
use this thread as a example of when u do search you have to read through the last 20 threads on body lift cause most of them change subject, get told to search or get hoarded just like this one.
but yea i only added my two cents cause im bored at work too and its a friday. lol

Have you recently taken up a job with the RTA Grimbo mate? Every QLDer that posts a thread lately gets a "can't do it cause it's illegal" reply from you. Ever think people might know that but not give a rats left nurry cause half of the QLD laws are draconian and stupid?grimbo wrote:and all this guesswork would be null and void if he had done any sort of search or even called QLD authorities to find out the legalities of this
Perhaps you could re-word it to "If you care the law states you aren't allowed in QLD".

i actually do have a 1998 sierra, i have just swapped out the transfer case and put my gears in that. As for the SPOA i didnt know that was for leafys only, ive had the car for a year and getting into the whole fourbi thing.
i did do a search in the bible but didnt find anything that suits a coily thats why i started this thread. As for the rest of the car it is stock, but not for long, i am looking at getting lockers front and rear. With the 33s, id be running them on the weekends and keep my 30s for daily driving, so i think i might be able to get away with not having to do too much extra work since they will only be on for weekends, but tell me if im wrong.
cheers

you may want to have a look under your car and see if a SPOA would work. spring over... i'd hate to see a spring under coily
33's how often do u want to change the cvs and axles?
what terrain do u run and do u need 33s?

i do whatever i can find, alot of mud and some rock. last time i was at land cruiser park went through cruiser canyon and got stuck on my axels in a couple spots, which has encouraged me to go bigger with the wheels. needed a push off the rocks to keep moving.
i will have a good look under the car and see what can be done

without extensive work, 2" springs and 2" body are about the limit of a coily... this will allow you to comfortably run 31's... with some guard chopping and bumpstopping you could clear a larger tyre but you'd be starting to doubt the reliability of the CVs and axles (as nic said).
