If anyone is interseted the OBC site has listed all the stage results. Great to see how you went in each stage.
Great pics sniper but me thinks you took to many of Janette.
Anyone got any pics of group B, I think Jonesy's spectator group followed us all week. Did anyone get any pics or footage of my 80 doing a headstand in the sand ?

Can't blame him, she would have been a stand out competitor amongst that lot at the OBC!

Coighty, I have a visual imprint of your truck's arse in the air right infront of me, ( god knows why you wanted to do a bloody headstand right there ).....which I wish I could print for you., talk about being close and almost landing on top of you.......phew
Yeah Jonsey, was such a g8 Group B spectator leader but so far hasn't posted anything on the OBC thread.
I'm still hoping someone will come good with a pic of all our B team pulling the Jimney up the Sandwall......a magic moment. I know the darling Tassie families mum took lots of video too, as did Glenn but he's going away for 6 weeks....I have both his and Al's e addresses to send u in the meantime.

Must say it was sooo fun being with u guys again this year.....sorry we beat u o/a too.... ;) ;) ;)

:D lol C & E

ps thanks Baretta!

We attended the event as a spectator and had a great time. I would like to thank our squadron leader "shoddy" and the rest of group "D" for making it a memorable and fun trip. I was wondering if any spectators got their spectator pack when they signed in at broken hill and if so what was in it?

Does anyine have any pics or details of that Merc G-wagon?

I would love to know if it was running that asmatic diesel or something with grunt. My mum's boyfriend has a G-wagon and I'd love to show him an action pic or 2.
Hi Alec. Pete here the Merc is mine. It has an inline 6 Merc engine with a displ. of 3.2 litres (petrol). The motor is pretty standard and gets 97kw at the back wheels. Its a far cry from the asthmatic diesels but still quite shy of the trucks at the OBC

It is quite a financial exercise getting everything over there (and back) so I will need a year to recover. I also need to do a lot more to the truck to get her up to speed, and I don't want to do this under pressure. Our focus on this event was trying to get a vehicle ready as a package, we don't have events like the OBC here and so we had to build all the CCDA bits to pass scrutineering etc. and this took up most of our time and budget. Our plan was to come over and pay our "school fees" as it were for 2008 then be able to better prepare for the next go. We sure did this and will definitely return, hopefully 2010.

I must just add that the support and camaraderie were fanatstic. We met some good people and made some friends too. If not for anything else I would return for these reasons alone. You have an awesome country!

The last time he tried this trick on a sand dune, the whole car was upside down, maybe there should be some stickers on the bash plates :D Good photo Paul.

Turps the sticker on the roof is for "UP HILL" roof shots, not down hill. Thought that would be obvious.

mad the truck looks great, as for doing the OBC it's a massive commitment for an overseas team, the financial cost is extraordinary after speaking to the American team in 06 & the South Africans this year i think you might need a 2nd mortgage, anyway good luck with it and maybe we'll see you over here one day in the future.

Redpath has been swearing 2008 was his last - but do we believe him ? ;)

The chap who owns the Range Rover that Gary 'diff-breaker' Smith competed in had to miss out this year but is considering competing in 2011 and Gary is up for a return visit by all accounts.

Pat Smart who navvied for Neil in 2003 and 2005 had to miss out this year too but I'm pretty sure he'd go again if he got the chance.

I'd certainly like to do the OBC again and Dave isn't saying no....

Watch this space ....

Mad Geordie - as Coighty says it is a big expense and committment for us overseas competitors but I can say it is well well worth every penny and all the stress!

Hiya Steve,
It's g8......I've also been in touch with Warner (South African team Car 29 that was a Prado) and pm'd u so your guys can get in touch.
If Warner's performace in the Prado this year are anything to go on, you'll be right with entering yours as long as it hasn't an IS, says Eugene.
Cheers and good luck,

I think what Celiaa is trying to say via Eugene is provided you don't have IFS in the front.

ok ok Coighty.... so I'm not up to standard... :? IS is how we always referred to the Vitara's Independent suspension.....
but I still love u ;) ...and hope to c some more pix from our d/d almost encounter....via Alister.

ps. we got our truck back yest.....replaced the pan hard rod, drive link, front control arm bushes (which were new) and steering box.....all damaged at the Prologue on those ?#*? tyres on the right side of the tank.
The gear box & transfer case were flushed also with gallons of oil....we are so lucky the g/b didn't blow after taking in that stinky water on Sat....which got in thru the gear stick seal!.....according the the Mitchell Bros boys Aaron & Ben it was putrid!....
How lucky were we to continue on and complete the entire week with it so damaged also....but then I put that down to being a Nissan....

Now to get rid of the miff smell from sitting in the water for too long too.... ;) and return the truck to the family tourer/daily driver.

Cheers,
Celia
