dis-assembling spring packs

Post by flyology »

I am about to refurbish the springs on my 60 series. Are the any tips or tricks to pulling the spring packs apart?

Do I just G clamp them to hold them together when pulling the pin out to separate them?

Thanks in advance....

Thanks, I am goingto use a cast iron G clamp to hold the leaves together before I undo the pin bolt.

Any tricks or things to watchout for on re-assembly? (using an piece of rod for a guide pin would be my first guess...)

you can do that if you've got rod to suit, or you can slowly bring the pac together and keep shuffling the pin around to get each hole as it comes into reach of the pin.

not much too it really :D

oh, and mark the front (of the car) and back (of the car) on all the leafs. sure you can work it out, or you might be lucky enough that all the leafs are symetrical, but if they're not, it's just easier to have them marked
