THE "silly" question thread
THE "silly" question thread
ok since its friday and their is not much happenin i thought i would start a thread for suzuki lovers to talk about anything they feel like and not worry about asking stupid questions.
plus i did'nt want to start a thread on indicators but what aftermarket front fender indicators are some of you guys using. mine are all faded and cracked i was thinking maybe some clear ones to give it that new look.

i know mine doesnt. i have seen some sierra bonnets with a metal bracket in the middle of the bonnet maybe that has something to do with it.foolsp33d wrote:Ugh, dunno bout them indicators... stock is fine.. and you will loose park lights with them...

My guess is the strap wasn't included in cars with full doors. It might have been in the toolkit or something, so maybe Drover soft tops would have come with the strap?lexplay wrote:i know mine doesnt. i have seen some sierra bonnets with a metal bracket in the middle of the bonnet maybe that has something to do with it.foolsp33d wrote:Ugh, dunno bout them indicators... stock is fine.. and you will loose park lights with them...

There's no pad on the accelerator standard.jungles wrote:sorry another 2 questions is it legal to use gps as speedo
and does the accelerator pedal need a pad or is it standard with out 1
thanx jimmy
The GPS one is tricky. It *might* be legal in principle (that is, nothing says you have to have a mechanical connection to the output shaft to get a speed reading), but in practice I think you'd be hard pressed getting one passed. Most GPS units don't have speed as a default page. i.e when you turn the car on, you have to go "looking" for speed. Also, you'll get no reading in tunnels and under bridges etc.
A "real" GPS speedo is made by Norskog -

But you still loose an odometer, it's MPH only, and has the problems outlined above.
I run my stock speedo with and a GPS.

However, you should probably buy one as i have been failed on a rego check for not having one.Gwagensteve wrote:There's no pad on the accelerator standard.jungles wrote:sorry another 2 questions is it legal to use gps as speedo

just have to be ADR compliant and mounted in accordance with local rules and regs... of course, said rules and regs can ban em, but last i checked Qld Road Transport regs were ok with em if they met the ADR performance requirements.

Can you buy accelerator pads? I have never come across them before. You can always just glue on rough sandpaper, that will give you some grip.zooker wrote:However, you should probably buy one as i have been failed on a rego check for not having one.Gwagensteve wrote:There's no pad on the accelerator standard.jungles wrote:sorry another 2 questions is it legal to use gps as speedo

autobarn mate - they have all the bling...
Skateboard Grip tape or stair antislip tape is the go, but it doesn't add grip when your boots are really muddy.

I had to replace the accelerator pedal rubber on my 1.0 Sierra for it's roadworthy as they said it was too worn so I pulled one of another 1.0 at a wreckers.
And yes, led are legal on the front if they meet all the rerquirements.

i've always told em to stick it up thier a#@!. tell em to ring suzuki and find out it doesn't exist, or tell em to check the adr's for that vehicle and find out you don't need one.

Suzuki's came with full floating rear axles, rear locking diffs, and PTO's... doesn't mean they came into Australia like it, or that you could ring suzuki and order one.
There's no requirement for a pad on the accelerator, and one wasn't fitted from new in Australia.
Steve.
