MQ/K vs GQ Diff Widths ?

Post by Swerve »

Hey all,

I am going to convert my G60 to MQ or Leaf GQ diffs.

Problem I have is I just bought a ARB rear locker for MQ (ARB RD04). bczook has some GQ leaf diffs for sale and I would really like the extra track, without the need for wheel spaces.

So the easiet option is to go MQ front rear, ideal solution may be GQ front with H233B and Rear MQ H233 with my Locker and wheel spaces to equal up the track.

Do people know what the track of the following diffs are as I searhed but couldnt loacte nothing.

MQ width ?
GQ Leaf Diff widths ? (I think they are the same as coilies)

had a chat with wicked and now know there is about 30mm difference between the GQ leaf and MQ diffs.

For what I,m after there is no benefit for me to go GQ.

Will go the MQ diff option. Thanks Wicked

wow, only 30mm difference...Was that for the front diff only or both. Saw a few mqs out at cruiser on the weekend runnin different front diffs and got me rather curious.

On a side note i was stuck behind Wicked goin through the range sunday night. Mate, your truck is tough as in person...I waved as i overtook, dunno if you noticed though...

One of these I was buggered if i could work out if it was MQ or GQ but then saw the rear diff. Both offset so gonna assume MQ/MK.

But both had banjo front diffs. And the silver one blew a CV. That all too reconisable Bang!

It wasn't too bad, I was more interested in gettin a closer look at the goods under the rear of your truck and kept getting ideas lol

Mate they are both runinng MQ diff's front and rear.
The Silver Ute is a good mate of mine. Nick. Those boggers don't like his inner axles, trying to talk him into a GQ diff too! lol

so he is breaking inner axles in front?

blue one looks to have H260 rear diff. Neither one looks to flex very well, but the pics aren't real flex shots.

the one thing the GQ's have on the MQ diffs is strength. In paticular the front is stronger.

but hey that doesn't mean you will break the MQ diffs. All depends on you, how you drive it and all that jazz

Good move btw to upgrade the old G60 diffs to something better! ;)

Yer cause he is running GQ Cv's.

Its a H233 with a 4 link. Flex's quiet well....

From my discussion with Wicked

The GQ coil diffs are 100mm wider then MQ MK. Guess you can install them but you will need to remove all coil hardware, make new spring perches, rear is a centre diff so will need a offset tailshaft.

Sure? No........ Hmm No I'm thinking! lol

No!

The driver side spring pack sits almost over centre of the pumpkin.
For GQ Coils to work on a LEAF SPRUNG MQ...

Out board front springs to out side the chassis rail, or,
Carve out the housing, or,
Left the spring perches and packs off the diff housing but just over 50mm, or,
I'm sure there is other ways.....

There is APPROX. 30mm (over all) Difference between MQ/MK to GQ Leaf.
There is APPROX. 99mm (long side) Difference between GQ leaf and GQ coil.
There is APPROX. 100mm (over all) Difference Between GQ Coil and CU Coil (GU Never came as a Leaf front only rear)

Yeah it looked like a GQ front, and also had the GQ coil steering setup. Which I was workin on...then it got pushed aside, i have all the hardware, just gotta find an machine shop to trim and rethread the draglink and drill, sleave and reverse the taper in the pitman and I'm in business. I rang a few places an no one seemed to be interested in taking my money :(

100mm difference! That'd be nice, but the work involved just isn't in my bin of things I want to do. This is my daily as well :( GQ leafy diffs though....dunno if sellin all my crap and buyin the gq gear plus locker is worth the extra 30mm. Might just stick to tryin to get my rims flipped.

EDIT...Read your build up. Ok so I chuck my rear mq locker into the front gq diff. Then I need to get another locker for the rear :( After driving dual locked i don't wanna slum it back on a single
