Anyone interested in a Detroit Locker for your Rocky, Scats?

Post by BabyGodzillaGTi-R »

Hey guys
anyone interested in a rare Detroit Locker for your Rocky or older Daihatsu?

I've one for sale and willing to let go for a reasonable price. Reason why i'm selling it as i've decided to upgrade to either Volvo C303 or Hilux axles as i've come to a point that the final drive ratios on the Rocky axles are just too high (3.9 final drive).

Rest assured that the diff is in good condition and from my experience between a LockRite (Toyota Hilux) and a Detroit (Rocky), the Detroit wins hands down in terms of the smoothness in operation and engagement.

No pics for the moment as the car is being dismantled.

Just letting u guys know out there as i know ppl are having difficulties attaining them for their Daihatsu.
I know how u guys feel as i'm having difficulties trying to locate a rare NISMO 2 way rear and centre LSD for my Nissan Pulsar GTI-R.

For more information feel free to email me at victor.cheong.kim.foong@gmail.com or call me at +6012 9198228.
For those that don't know i'm based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Best Regards

I call shotgun

No point wasting it on a IFS rig :D

How much you looking for? Any idea on how hard it will be to freight it?

Go away :finger:

I probably won't keep my Rocky for much longer, so you can install it in the Dinosaur... least it might make up for your lack of decent suspension :D

Great! There might be several takers from where I am, starting w/ me. Will it fit a Feroza (25 spline, 5.2 diff ratio)? Is it for the front or back? Are we talking of the gear assembly or just the locker (i.e. minus the crown and pinion)? How much? (PM me?)

Well as mentioned in some previous thread in outerlimits Daihatsu thread someone said 1800 AUD for the Detroit is a good starting price before shipping.
For me i'm cool with anything... Willing buyer willing seller.
I plan to sell the unit alone. But if someone is willing to pay for the shipping charges i'm more than glad to throw in the axles front and rear too. I leave on the buyer their preferred way of shipping, DHL, snail mail which ever works best.
Just feel free to PM, email or call me and we can work out something.

Would you mates know if the Detroit here won't fit a Feroza 1.6L w/ IFS and 25 splines? Appreciate your info. God bless.

A Feroza will not have the same diff as a Rocky, so it won't fit, sorry.

Their worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them dave :D

And so far I'm the highest, actually serious, bidder. I don't expect he'll say yes. But its the best I can do. Especially considering freight will prolly be the same again.

Seriously, I wouldnt expect freight to be too bad from Malaysia. The Detriot really only consists of the centre of the diff, probably around 5 kg max, not the entire diff pumpkin, crownwheel, diff casing.
If you get it, whatever you do, dont remove the long bolt and nut and washers that hold it all together until its inside the pumpkin, otherside- sproing.

I fozzy locked my Feroza 2 weeks ago. It goes 1/2 wheel turn before the wheels locked up allowing a little differentiation. I have trailed it twice. So far so good. I asked a 4x4 shop to do it for me. All in all I paid US$80 for it. Maybe a cheaper alternative than a detroit locker.

Doesn't fit a Feroza anyway so options are very limited....
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.
