Ensure your tyres are completely covered by your guards or flares.
VIC pol targeting $150 AND 3 licence points.
Rear mudflaps max 300mm from ground and covering tyre width.

what areas are they targeting? or just in general..... do u rekon they will ping for standard 31x10.5 all terrains with just the standard flairs taken off? or they wouldn't really notice unless u have big tyres and a lift..?

That would right, I have just removed my rubber flares and filled the holes before the respray, and to make matters worse they went to tip after a garage clean out. :bad-words:

A.D.R. 42/03 clause 15.2 to 15.2.6 refers to the wheel gaurds.

15.2.5 says Notwithstanding the requirements specified above the wheelgaurd including the mudflap (if fitted) need not be less than 230 mm from the ground for other than off road vehicles, or 300 mm in the case of off road vehicles designed for off road operation.

Mudflaps are not normally required on passenger car type vehicles. However, mudflaps must be in place on vehicles where they form part of the wheelguard system such as on some motor bikes, heavy vehicles and vehicles with a tray type body.

Theres a roadworks site going along Cranbourne Road, they have it down to 60kph, for no reason, the road works have finished! Its patchy and phukt, but basically its 2 lanes each way now.

They sit there ALL day every day, I would guess, no less than 20 cars a day gettin nailed. Somedays 1-2 cops each way! Its a gold mine.

Theres 50klm zone past the schools around Karingal Drive, they dont go near it... Everyone drives around there like its Monza...

took my flares off when i got the car 6 months ago... read this thread and thought i should finally put on those rubber flares i have sitting in the garage, just need some screws to hold them on, so i drove to bunnings today, got the screws, driving home, nearly there..... DAMN RED AND BLUE LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got canaried for the flares (lack of), also found out that you need mudflaps down to the axle height, unless ur bodywork is already that low... AND to top it off, the guy i bought the car off hadn't put this years rego sticker on, and i never noticed till they told me.

Anyway, flares go on today hopefully....

moral of the storey, listen when people talk, don't just brush everything off thinking it could never happen

yeah, i got a yellow sticker on windscreen, but it has the minor box crossed, so i have to get it inspected, but i would think (and hope) that all they do is check the item that is listed, being the flares

eek! you got canaried???!!! :shock:

I think that unless the box reading "Full RWC" or something along those lines is ticked, they will only look at the items listed as problems.

mate got pinged today in cheltenham in melbourne.
cop kept him there for almost an hour and tried to find something else on him...you'd think he'd have better things to do like like book ppl going 62 in a 60 zone

I must of been lucky with my lack of rego fine. No front Bar. 37 inch tyres. No front flaps. Nothing behind the rear wheels in the way of flap.

old 'trick' coppers use and it still happens these days, usually its an "area" thing and meaningless out of the area.

When I lived in Frankston a few years back the coppers had a piece of yellow "nitto" tape above the rego label.... it meant 'leave this car alone' to

2/ parking inspectors

worked a treat, saved my butt many a time !!

The Cops tried this at Gymea Tradies club in Shitney, they put blue stickers on cars headlights in the car park...

Then as they came down the road and saw the blue tinge on the lights they pulled them up! They breathliized everyone of them. Got more people that night than any in years!

There is no fine issued in Victoria for $150. The offence of " vehicle fails to comply with registration standard" is found in the R.S.V.R.'s (Road safety Vehicle Regulations) section 819(3), and carries and immediate fine of $165.00, and Zero(0) demerit points.

No offences in the RSVR's carry Demerit point listings. Offences in other acts (i.e., Road Safety Act, Road Safety Traffic regulations) Do, and they are mostly only attached to offences whereby a higher level of risk to safety has been infringed. (i.e. Exceed blood alcohol content, speeding, etc.).

Points are generally cumulative from all states too

i'm all good now, put my flares on last night (got a coupla pics on my phone to post later) went to vic roads this morn, and after a 20 min wait, took all of 10 seconds to clear it.

On another note, how farkin sticky are them damn yellow stickers???? i ended up soaking mine with a wet rag to get it off, then a razor blade for the sticky stuff.
