Yes its a RUF but not what you think.
I used a pair of rear springs out of a Carry.
As is out of the donor car, they will lift a stock zook about 1".
I already had 2" lifted so I used the lower leaves from mine with the longer top leaf to keep it raised.
You could just as easily fit stock height leaves under the new top leaf if you wanted to stay low.

They are 965mm long, thats 70mm longer than Sierra fronts so theres benefits to be had. :lol:

They are 50mm wide, same as Sierra. :D
The bushings are the same as Sierra too. :D

The centre pin is 38mm further forward than Sierra fronts.
I mounted the perches in the original holes so if you haven't already you won't have to redrill them.
I have a 5mm gap between the back of the pitman arm and the tie rod so no worries about hitting or bending it.
I've fitted 1" bumpstop extensions which can just be seen in the pic.

Those shackles are 100mm. Warrior lift shackles from Lowrange. 30mm longer than stock.

I redrilled the rear bolt holes 20mm back and 20mm up. So diff is still 18-20mm forward. of original.

It went from 575mm fully flexed (from ground to bottom of tyre) to 685mm.
110mm extra flex just by changing the springs.. :armsup:
I wonder how much more I'll get if I fit longer shocks too.


Here is a pic of it sitting level.
I think I'll put another leaf back in the front to lift it a little bit which will slightly reduce the shackle angle it has now.

thats some good and well timed info ( I need to move my diff foward soon) , and can you post a pic of the shackel angle when its not flexing up.

but rear mount is welded 2" or so back.

did u still get the 2" lift when leafs were installed?

and what year carry am i looking for?

My lift is now about 1.5" over stock. 2" lifted lower leaves but I only used 2 insted of 4 so it lost some lift but flexes better.
ST80 or ST90 not sure what years they are.
If you can't find any I have two spare pairs here for sale.
Carry only has leaf rear they are strut front.
Carry rears are halfway between Sierra fronts and rears .

are you sure ya measurements are corect? sierra fronts are between 925 and 940 long depending on manufacturer. but still looks like a similar setup to what i posted a few yrs back using rear sierra springs

I'm certain Moose did this ages ago too on his sierra with the carry springs.

I measured everything 3 times.
Even if, as you say, they are 940mm, these are 965mm, so still better than stock.
Yes almost the same as your setup using Sierra rears but not quite as long.

:rofl: Yeah yeah... it's all a matter of priorities.. I'd rather spend my weekends driving it than cutting and welding it.
I'll chop the guards and remove the bumpstop extensions soon but will have to refit them when I fit larger tyres.

Just realised yours is a NT. this is a very good compomise seing the stock rears need an extension or the rear hanger to be moved to fit. your shackle angle is just a bit more than mine but its still ok.

Pretty sure his SWB was WT converted to NT, unsure of his LWB.

Farking loving that setup want33's, awsome shackle angle and no ugly chassis extension to kill approach angle just for flex.

If only you'd posted this before I bought my calmini kit lol.

If I were to buy another zook tomorrow this would be the setup I'd run...

Yep the old SWB was WT but I relocated the front hangers and diff perches to NT spacing.

The LWB is a WT with an NT chassis.
I'll move the rear hanger of the front spring back when I get a chance and weld up the new hole I drilled. Will look a lot better and keep the spring bush enclosed and reduce the shackle angle a little.
I would have liked to have kept standard length shackles, maybe I'll be able to with hanger moved back further??
Funny how one improvement leads to others... Now I have to fit longer shocks which means new upper mounts... never ending. :roll:

When i did my RUF i was amazed how much better it made it flex and ride. But the limiting factor was the shocks. so i put longer shocks in it and spaced the bumpstop. This gave it more drop but reduced the compression.

Now after i raised the top shock mounts it has full travel and works alot nicer.

not completely flexed yet. Gonna put some longer springs in the rear soon and it should be alot better. Goal is to get wheel on top of letterbox without the wife knowing i ramp on it :roll: :roll:

I hope the letter box is built strong lol, you'd have some explaining to if she came home and it was in pieces :lol:

I'd just ramp it up to the top then remove the plank and wait for her to come home and say "buggered If I know how it got there?"

if she goes shopping on sunday, which shouldnt take much encouragement, ill ramp it up again and get a measurement. Ill try to max it out with all wheels still touching but the HB dont hold to well so it always comes back down a bit.

You just worry about your Pootrol and leave the Zook tech to us. :roll: YES .. from the bottom of the tyre (on the ramp) to the ground is where I'd like the measurement from.

couldnt get any measurements as we had unexpected visitors today and ive been trying to fix leaks on the tyres after queens b'day weekend. It not an easy task popping tyres of a rim at home without the propper gear.

Id be keen to have a crack at an official ramp day if there was one running soon.
