.....they put, what I can only assume is a timing belt viewing hole on the DL's, at an angle in which its impossible to check the timing or the condition of the belt, unless you took off the entire front panel/bar/radiator etc. In fact, just about the only thing you can see through it, is the nut that holds the timing cog onto the injector pump, but you can't tighten it from the hole. Just look at it

They put the "H" series thermostat on the water inlet instead of outlet and then buried it under the powersteering and on top of the alternator.
This is a work of genius - it makes changing it without removing other stuff a job for an ambidextrous octopus AND also makes tensioning the alternator a pain.
As a added extra, should you manage to remove the thermostat, then any coolant left in the block pours onto/into the alternator.
Oooo - Ooooo another one. Once again H series. They put a dimple on the top cam drive pulley that aligns with the top of the head when the timing is correct and then decide its too easy and come up with a far less precise way of describing it in the manual.
Me again... they make the dog on the distributor drive a bit off centre so it cant go in the wrong way. Well DOH they didn't make it excentric enough - you can put it in backwards.....

-They made a removable sun roof on the front of the Ferozas, but there's nowhere to stow it inside the cabin if you've got passengers. It won't fit in the boot area and if you've got passengers in the rear you can't put it in the only place it will fit- behind the front seats.
-They also succeeded in making an engine that will detonate at the drop of a hat (HD-E) - running stock timing and 98 octane.
-They build an EFI engine but then put an old fashion distributor with centrifigal weights for timing advance (and vacuum advance.)

huh??? my sunroof fits in the back of mine no problems ... the trick is, is to put it in vertically but on about a 45 deg angle , make sure the bottom right hand corner (resective to you looking at it) goes behine the right hand side of the rollover bar .... gently slide it down till it touches the wheel well, the lefthand side then "just" fits in when you close the tailgate ... course for this to work you need to have nothing in the back. but i carry my roof like that all the time ... during the summer i have a full ragtop on though including replacing the front hardtop with a custom softtop.murcod wrote:-They made a removable sun roof on the front of the Ferozas, but there's nowhere to stow it inside the cabin if you've got passengers. but my pet bitch is why the hell did they put half the waterpump BEHIND the cam cover ... if they hadnt done that it would have taken less than 15 mintutes to change the waterpump ... instead of having to strip the grill, rad etc and turning it into a major drama.

I was also puzzled by this hole until reading the manual.
That hole is actually for a breather tube that goes vertically up and connects to a small hole on the underside of the factory cold air intake duct that lies across the top of the fan shroud.
If you still have one lying around you will see it.
It shows a picture of it in the manual (Engine Mechanical section, page EM-29).
It's for the General specification Rocky which I assume is for some country other than Australia.
It must not be necessary over here and so rather than making up an new mold for the cover it was easier and cheaper just to fit a rubber bung to it.
