is there any mechanics that can help me ?

Post by ROAD_KILL »

hi guys i need a mechanic that can clear a red sticker defect.

i was pulled over at a rbt and they laughed at me . told me to park on the foot path and call a tow truck!

the defects are all little petty things .

no mud flaps
reverse lights on a switch
crack in rear window
no rubber on my pedal
and no flares on the front

if any on in Sydney can clear these please pm me as they are all fixed
except my reverse lights are still on a switch

cheers :)

so is a red worse than a yellow? all those things seem pretty minor.

why not fit some rubber flares and flaps, hook up the rerverse light, and replace the window, would be legit for like $100.

yes a red sticker is where they make you tow it home . a yellow sticker they give you a time limits to get the car home .

i have fixed all the defects but because its classed as a major defect it now needs a blue slip (full inspection)

They really were not too fair calling those issues a major defect. Maybe the lack of flares over the front wheels, but the rest are not exactly a major danger.

Bugger.

Will the rest of the vehicle pass a bluey?

mate if it was that easy i would . its a gq station wagon chopped to a extra cab ute how is that going to past a full inspection ?

if it was a minor red sticker they just inspect the defects but being a major they have to inspect the whole truck ! soooo im pretty much screwed :bad-words: :bad-words:

so they defected you on enough, to let someone else decide what really needs fixing at the next inspection.

So you effectively end up with another list of things to fix from that.

im not 100% sure if this is exact but with last weeks experience all you have to do is get a weigh ticket on the current body and hope its less than a wagon but strip as much weight as you can because the pay load on a ute must be more than the passenger load on a wagon and then you can take it to an engineer and pass it legit! for further details contact mousie on here and hell tell you what the LEGAL way is to do it!
or alternatively you can pass it bodgy and lose it into a crowd and kill someone and end up doing time because of a few savings of coin and insurance wont cover you! we were told the other day to run a wagon over the weigh bridge with the defected vehicles plates on it to get a weigh ticket and then use that same ticket to rclear the red label, and that was from an engineer! what a wanker he was!

Mate, what you're asking for is an AUVIS examiner to put his livelihood on the line just so you can drive an illegally modified patrol around the streets. The Police were obviously aware that the vehicle has more things wrong with it than they could determine on the side of the road. Hence the red label defect, which incurs a full inspection for clearance.

Familybus was correct with regard to insurance and liability etc. If you don't want to keep looking over your shoulder all the time, take it to an RTA recognized engineering signatory and get some professional advice. Traditionally 4x4's were never seen by the authorities as a major concern with regard to modifications. However, in recent years due to the number of extensively modified offroaders getting about, the RTA and Police are now starting to crack down on people such as yourself, and rightly so. I don't have a problem with anyone building a serious 4x4, but at least do it right, otherwise they won't be cracking down on street racers anymore, they'll be jumping all over 4x4 owners instead.

As it's only your play toy, save up some time and money and get it engineered properly, so then you won't have as much trouble next time.

road kill you will have to rub the chunks of bog out smooth before you go anywhere if the rta were to see it they would laugh and not pass it and the secon thing you might have trouble with is the fact that your roll bars are welded to the side of your shassie :) anyways it is better to be save than sorry :!: young street smash is great good work, good people

my engineers cert cost me around the $500 mark

whats wrong with having the rollbar welded onto the chassis?? that would make it stronger than mounting it anywhere else??

get ya rig cleaned up and get it done properly! engineered then take it to the appropriate Blue slip man!
it wont cost a shiat load and you will be able to drive it then!

The chassis is designed to twist and flex under all operating conditions. welding to the chassis will prevent the natural movement possibly causing stress and failure somewhere. <-- thats the bullshit my engineer told me about it anyway

off rubberised body mounts that allow movement, and tied into the internal that's bolted via plates to the floor.

I'm far from an expert on this shiz, so I'm gunna step away and watch the shitfight of the proper way on how to mount a cage grow :D
