I have just done the G16B (1.6 Vitara) engine transplant into my Sierra and have a dodgy carby~ intermittent flat spot~ and have been told not to bother putting a Webber Carby onto it, but rather to pay $100 for the original one to be kitted.
My question is which way is the best way?

Carburation Queston
I had the same problem awhile back. I was quoted up to $400 to rebuild the stock carb and have a mate that was charged $600 (dyno tune included)
So paid $60 for the kit and tried myself, Im not a mechanic but I can do my webers with my eyes shut but the stock carb that was a challenge!
Couldnt get the seat for the needle out and couldnt find info how too, had it apart twice and no difference used heaps of fuel and wouldnt run on side angles.
Went back to the weber I had on my 1300 and it was like doing the 1300 to 1600 swap all over LOTS more power good economy (If you stay out of the secondary) easy to rebuild, but stalls downhill and a SLIGHT flat spot on big hill climbs.
These 2 probs arent to bad to live with with lower gears and I turn my fuel pump off on downhills and that helps to.
Got my 38 weber and ported manifold waiting at the post office from the states and cant wait to try it out.
My thoughts on swap,
pros, cons
cheap, will flood without some mods
more power hard to fit snorkel
easy to rebuild use more fuel cause its fun to drive
has a loud roar at WOT
Have a read through the weber thread to get a better idea, but if you can get one cheap enough I say give it a shot.
