Im currently tossing a few ideas round for a new project, possibly using an lj ute as the base. I was thinking i would swap my zook running gear over - geared t-case, locked WT diffs (either SPOA or SPUA, have both) and 32 swamper sx's. Does anybody have the spring spacing and lengths? I have been through lj10.com, but still need a bit of info. I

the front spring spacing will interfere with the sierra pumpkin for starters. i'll have a look at my chassis data at home and see what measurements i can find.

Thanks Joe. I looked at a really neat ute the other day with a engineered 5K and 5 speed. Was figuring the springs might need to be outboarded, or a custom diff made up with a centered housing. The ute is in pretty good condition and good price, so i might just make an offer as an everyday car.

That though did cross my mind. Though outboarding the spring hangers to clear the pumpkin would be another option. Maybe fit MQ diffs.want33s wrote:You could always cut and shut Sierra WT diffs with two long axles instead of one long and one short.

Yeah i knew what rig it was you were talking about. I say it's a nifty little rig mate, something to tinker with and get your motervation levels back up again. Would be a pretty cool fishing rig even in standard trim...

hard to see in this pic but the front diff has been custom made with a sierra centre, 4.6 gears and an airlocker. the rear is a cut-down vit with the same gear. at the moment we are widening it another 600mm and doing coils.[ using long side narrow track axles.]

Thats along the lines of what i was thinking there. (im sure i have seen that rig in 4wd monthly ages ago, nice work ).As i was considering changing the tranfer to a leafy syle with gears, is there room to outboard the spring mounts on the chassis so i can run an offset pumpkin at the front and keep driveshaft angles okay? Or would the distance required to make the spring clear the pumpkin be too much to outboard the mounts (using a sierra diff, WT with NT spring spacing)?
