Hey all a got a old shity roza bout 3 months ago. so far all i have done is filled it with mud and wound up the toursion bar.
i want to build it up to a beast so i can shit all over my mates zook!!!!
what are the best mods i can do to get it big and is it worth while looking at replacing the front diff??

phraze - how much time and money are you prepared to spend ?
I'm not trying to be funny - there's lots of stuff in the aftermarket for zooks and virtually nothing for Feroza's and what there is is damm expensive.
Tell us how much and I'm certain there will be lots of suggestions. You also need to decide if it matters if its illegal.

For offroad parts, Feroza's and Rocky's are very limited in what you can buy, everything is custom made and costs a lot usually.

The best performing cars offroad are the ones you don't care about. Judging by the way you describe it, your fez should already get further than your mates zuke

Then go out an buy something that actually will crap all over a zuke

And put big tires on it. Don't worry about lift just angle grind any bits that hit the tires off, unless you need them. Body panels are sacrificial, steering components, not so.

Ha Ha, yeah i know probably not the best for offroad but i think the look a bit better then sierra's and i can take the roof of in summerim running 31s cranked up the toursion bar thats about it realy it handles like shit but does the job...
just wanted some more clearance to start with but with the standard set up on the front thier doesnt seem to be much i can do.

Probably the easiest and cheapest way to outdo the mate
and his zook is to plan two weeks away wheeling, camping
and drinking and make sure to tell ya mate he has to bring
enough food, water and supplies for the entire time.........
The extra space in the Fez will "sh!t all over the zook"
Short of that, reliability is always a good investment in a car,
good oils, regular maintenance and proper tuning......always nice
to have a car that's ready to wheel whenever you are.....
NB if inviting said mate, ensure you bring girls along too......

If you want to swap your front IFS for a solid, the EASIEST and by far the best way, is to go out an buy a complete, working solid axle rig.
Take off all the Fez badges, put them on the other car. Done.
Sorry, but SAS'ing anything is going to be hard. EVEN harder on a fez, cause next to nobody does anything that resembles a kit for them, and even normal parts are getting harder to find for Daihatsu's.
But hey, if you've got loads of time, loads of cash, and loads of welding rods. Stick around, there's a few here that have gone down this path.

80% chance its the exhaust manifold from what you are describing.
Also doing a SPOA on only the rear and trying to m,atch the front with it willl not work. You will be sitting so hihg on the rear and have a very shitty front end

longer control arms produce more vertical travel at the wheels for the same change in arm angle.
If the arms are angled down slightly it also produces an increase in ride height - which is also cool.
This also doesn't change the CV joint angles either so its the way to go....
Unfortunately there are limits to how long the arms can be without changing the chassis design as the car gets too wide. Need to keep the track to wheelbase ratio under control to ensure straight line stability.

Its not the end of the world with your Feroza. I have modified my
Feroza and the costs was not so high. It is also a mean trailing machine. I
can go any place that a fully modified zook or land cruiser or patrol can
go. In fact in some cases, My Feroza can go farther.
Here are the offroad mods that I did.
1. 2.5" body lift
2. 1.5" suspension lift via ball joint spacer and slightly crank torsion bar
3. conversion into a mini pickup
4. Steel bumpers
5. Replaced with shocks tuned for offroading
6. 7,500 lbs winch
7. Fozzy lockers for front
8. tighthened built in rear LSD for better offroad performance
9. 4-2-1 Extractors for more torque
10. 32" MT
11. Simota free flow air filter
12. Wheel balancing and camber and wheel alignment
13. Good looking interior - better than the spartan zook
13. Very cold airconditioning - again better than the zook
14. 2" wheel spacers for more stability
15. Fender trim because when the wheel spacers were installed, there
was slight rubbing on the fenders.
16. retained roll bars at the rear
Honestly I have considered doing a SAS as a future project but in the
meantime, the Feroza is as capable as most rigs for serious trailing.

monmendoza - start running 34" inch tyres, transfer gears etc etc and the welded front isn't going to last. Welded front diffs break even on stockies used moderately hard.
The Salisbury style centre is just too weak because of the cast in holes. The rear diff will also handgrenade if used seriously.
Its not going to be as much of an issue with the Feroza's awful transfer ratio but its all just too fragile when used hard. If you have a decent reduction ratio instead stock you'll smash it very quickly.
Take it easy otherwise you'll break it.

phraze, take a look at pigletracing,& you will see what you can do to a FEZ, & at the end of the day it wasnt all that expensive,baught the running gear for 2.5k & they had lockers / compressor/solinoids & switches, 4.88 imported ratios from Italy were $ 450 each,shit load of time on the welder, & there it is

Thanks mightymouse for the advice. Actually its the same advice that many veteran offroaders have told me. " Don't use your stock differentials for Racing and Rock Crawling" I believe that these are realistic limitations for the stock differentials with Fozzy lockers. Luckily I am not into both Racing and Rock crawling . So far, my Feroza have hold its own on very difficult terrain.
