As long as the oil pickup isnt damaged you should be alright. Had the tie rod do that to mine when I hit a stump at LCMP. Not to hard to remove and bash back out so I would do it anyway.

+1, just check your oil pickup when you pull the sump to check its not damaged. If you need a hand give me a call.

If you know someone who can weld, weld a nut to the sump (one that fits the thread of your slide hammer), screw the slide hammer to the nut & pull it out. I would say that its not a major enough dint to have damaged your pickup. If it was cracked or damaged you would more than likely already know as your oil pressure would be low.

Once you have removed the dint, grind the nut off & paint.

Or you could leave it there, it probably will never cause you any problems.

All 6cyl & V8 ford engines until recenty had a very exposed sump & 95% of them are dinted worse than that & it never really affected them.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.
Well they are all following you...
No they ain't, I'm just in front...............

When I built the stroker for my 1 tonner the sump was slightly dented. First fire up with the big crank and it was hitting!! I did the same, weld a nut on and slide hammer it out. Make sure u empty the sump and go easy on the welding. Sumps arent that thick.

Thats great, coz the VP commodore and patrol motors are heaps similar.

Im sure hell be glad to know he can still do burn-outs.
Dont be a wanker azza or is it a problem you cant help.

I am very well aware that the motors are totally different. But I was pointing out that both motors are stressed and his didn't have any issues.
