New comp to fill in for Woodpecker ( TOPERI CHALLENGE )

Post by Pigroota »

Expressions of interest are being sought in regards to a proposed new competition to fill in the void left in the comp calender by Woodpecker .
It it proposed that this comp will be held in a similar time as to what Woodpecker was ( late Nov - early Dec ) , at a venue approx 2.5 hrs drive west of Windsor NSW. It will have similar rules as to what Woodpecker did , but may be held over 2 days ... possibility of 4 stages .... 1st stage held on Sat efternoon , 2nd stage may be at night , 3rd & 4th stages on Sun morning , with the comp planned to be all wound up early in the afternoon ( this should assist those that have to travel ).

We would like feedback as to what interest there would be in this , so we know weather to get this off the ground & happening or not

we will be looking at full bodied vehicles , but mods will basically be unlimited , as long as its still a full bodied vehicle with chassis

Any idea on number of teams/clubs?
any indication yet on costs for entry?
is it a 4wd club insurance thing or like TTC CCDA membership req'd?

it certainly sounds a very cool thing.

I can ask the team from Bong Bong 4wd at next meeting on wednesday
But would like to know
where is the site?
how much?
can we get 2wd truck access to site?

I know that if its past Bathurst we may like it to be done by midday on a sunday as its a decent drive home.

It would work for most people to start on sat morning as we can drive there friday night.

Is it totaly official yet that Woodpecker will "NEVER" be run again? The feeling i got at last years event from organisers were that if a suitable site could be found then its possible this event will return.

.... it will be held at a property about 15 kms west of Orange

how much?
... entry yet to be finalised , but looking at keeping it around the $200 for a 2 car team , this of course will depend on insurance costs

can we get 2wd truck access to site?
... YES !! you most definatly can

I know that if its past Bathurst we may like it to be done by midday on a sunday as its a decent drive home.
.... we plan on having the comp wound up by approx 1.00 pm on Sunday to allow time for competitors to travel home

It would work for most people to start on sat morning as we can drive there friday night.
... to allow competitors to travel there after leaving work on a Friday afternoon , it would become too hard to get scrutineering / paperwork done to allow a sat morning start , this way competitors can still travel up on friday night & get scrutineered on sat morning OR travel there early morning & still get there in time to get scrutineering done in time for comp to start

This event will be put on to fill the void left by the fact that there will be no Woodpecker this year , it definatly has not been thought about to be a replacement for Woodpecker , if this event is a sucess & continues in future years, it can quite easily be moved to another weekend IF woodpecker was to return

If it is as successfull as woodpecker was you will defianatly get at least one team down from Queensland each year depending on how much further we will need to travel.

This will be a team event with the major prize going to the first place team, not individual. There will be 4 stages totalling approximately 25 mins. All cars will get to compete in the first 2 stages and line up to start stage 3 but once out after that, your out at that point marker. Hoping to have rules and reg's out in 2 weeks.

Just teams of 2 cars, if one club can only field one team that is fine, another club may field 3 teams.

New Pecker

Post by CYRIL »

Yeah - Nissan Club would probably be in, given its the last even for the year.

Can we get more idea where it will be at. 2.5hrs from Windsor sounds like its up the putty so, either TTC site or at Howes. Although they're not really 2.5hrs from windsor.

So if pecker is off this year, does that mean that the first time this would be on would be next year?

In terms of timing, if its a 2 day event, might be better being in the first half of the year or in July or something which is pretty open.

Pecker was good at the end of the year cause it was only a 1 dayer. Having another 2 dayer after nissan trials and before xmas might be difficult for some people to manage if they have family committments, or wanting to save some cash. Towing a rig 3hrs from Sydney would cost a bit of doe these days. For us, by the time you include food/grog, entry fees and fuel, it'd probably be $500 weekend. Worth considering anyway.

Cheers

Cyril.

2.5hrs west of windsor?

i think they are putting in a rule, where people who bring bright pink stickers saying "i wish i was chubby 2" get kicked in the balls repeatedly :finger:
