sierra wheel question
sierra wheel question
hey
i was lookin at my rims the other day when i was doin the wheel bearings and saw that they can be mounted around the other way cause they have the angled bits on it to lock the wheels in with the nuts. and when i placed one on the other way around it gave me another 2 inches or so. on either side i was wonderin if this will make it better off road due to it havin a wider track. i no its probably not legal but it can be flipped around pretty easy wen i get to the trail. btw im runnin stocko sierra rims.

It is possible but will be hard on your wheel bearings. I'd be surprised if they clear the brake calipers and seat on the hub properly? (Also, I know flipped NT rims clear 1.0 rear drums but don't think they will clear WY/coil drums) I know NT rims can be run flipped on the rear but I wasn't sure they cleared on the front, but I didn't think any other sierra rims could be run flipped at all.

well these might be nt rims i dont no wats the difference between them. all i no is they came with the car when i bought it.
but they def hav the angle thing on both sides to lock the rim in the right spot. i might try it abit around the farm on the weekend, and c how it goes. also wouldnt it be just as hard on the bearings as runnin 31's on a different offset rim. as mine are only 235's

They're aftermarket rims and may well clear the calipers and brakes. Give them a try and check for clearance. make sure the bolt area sits flat on the hub and is not being lifted off by the brakes. (obviously the calipers will foul on the front if they don't fit but it's not that obvious on the rear)

Yes the stability will improve but clearing the firewall/bumper might get harder due to the increased scrub radius.
It will be hard on bearings though, but not worse than some of the other silly offset rims people run.

finally got round to it and its a no go. they went on the front fine other then the valve stem nickin the brake caliper everytime round which could be fixed with a smaller valve stem. but the rears are the problem as they dont sit up against the brake drum cause the drum is to big. if only it were disc all round. ahwell was worth checkin anyway. didnt lose any money doin so.
