i bought a suzki soft top.. and was just wondering if anyone could tell me if Superior Engineering Rotating Drop Shackles are aloud on the road.... I need to go for a road worthy

No drop shackles are aloud on the road mate... big huge no no. Put them on after the road worthy!!!! hehe. My drop shackles came with stickers on them saying "caution.. off road use only" hehe.. i took them off

Yes, everyone is enititled to their opinion. However, that opinion should be informed and open to discussion and debate. The informed opinion of most people that have built, bought, and used these shackles is that they do not add to the capability of the vehicle. As a result, they are far less popular than they once were. That's certainly not because I don't like them, it's because many people have found they don't work and have moved on to other ideas, like lower cars and bumpstops.
They are, however, excellent for posing on ramps.

I reckon they can have their place, particularly in the rocks with a fair bit of unsprung weight, and some center limit-straps, but not on a road driven car. I just cant see someone having road-driven sierra big enough to need them. simcoz's rig on irok's is one that springs to mind..
That said I'd sooner have long flat flexy leaves with a big shackle angle for lots of drop and/or a 3/4" elliptical rear before drop shackles...

On a track you want control, not a floppy suspension that is unpredictable.
Think about driving up a ramp with no shocks and vastly different air pressures in the tyres it's pretty easy .. now think about trying to drive a track like that .. would suck.
Massive flex is HUGELY overrated in most real world scenarios.

No driving with drop shackles is nothing like driving with out shocks or a flat tyre, what love_mud is saying is that to drive a ramp, it is a very controlled action, u are just lifting one wheel up, while the other 3 sit on the ground, (he is saying that this could be done without shocks quiet easily) this is not like actual 4WDing, where any or all of your tyres are moving. so on a ramp, there is nothing happening to create weird stuff to happen ie loading or unloading of springs,11_evl wrote:so is driving with drop shackles similar to driving with no shocks and or flat tyres???
yes i have wheeled many times with the shackles unpinned, and yes it does ,make the car do weird things, i personally rather sacrifice a bit of flex, in exchange for the predictability of what my suspension is going to be doing

i have been running 'drop' shackles for about 6 months now and its never really concerned me that much, but im more of the non worrying type, i just drive it how it is and make the most of it.
id rather have a wheel on the ground than a bit of weird handling.
each to there own i guess

Do you have diff locks .. if not sell your wacky shackles to someone and get lockers .. it will get you far further. (on several tracks I could go further in a locked 2wd than an unlocked 4wd)
If you already have locker .. sell your wacky shackles to someone else and buy better springs, you will get about the same amount of flex, but better control and less spring wrap\axle hop.

there are alot more factors than just saying flex adds stabillity, and no, you can't have everything. the drop shackles they are talking about are horrible on the road, and there are other better methods of gaining wheel travel, and still being nice to drive on the road.
