Fibreglass roof mounting points
Fibreglass roof mounting points
Could someone please post up a pic on how to mount a fibreglass roof. Just like where the mounting points are and what they look like.
For which roof and which vehicle?
Rear canopy on sierras tend to be self evident.... just gotta drill holes in the tub sill, i have also fitted nutserts, makes it lots easier to bolt in/out.
Front canopy... could be more interesting.

heres mine mate, '89 WT (not that that should really make a lot of difference) with "flexiglass" fibreglass roof section ( i have front and rear ones )
front securing mechanism is a little locking hook , the red pins are pressed in and it unlocks and swivels up.
rear one is fairly self explanatory , just a bit of angle with a bolt in it , you do the bolt up to tension and it holds the roof in.
ive had a few experiences with fibreglass roof sections and securing devices and please if youre doing this yourself make doubly sure that the front part has a very solid and robust mount.... i had one instance with an Exige S where the owner didnt worry about all the bolts for his roof and figured it would be ok , at some hasty speed i lost the roof while in traffic during a test drive. the sierra is pretty bad as the windscreen catches a lot of air due to its boxyness and pushes up to the roof. the front seal on mine started to come off a bit and it made a hell of a racket and the roof was vibrating and all kinds of stuff, i thought i was going to take off ! haha

Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier I saw it a while ago and forgot.
Anyway this is mine:
First picture is the very front attaching to winscreen frame
2nd picture is side of the front portion attaching to the bars above the doors.
3rd picture is one I've posted up before on here somewhere on how I made a quick release setup for the back part.
My car is a SWB WT Sierra, the roof is a 2 piece flexiglass thing.
Hope this helps.

Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
If anyone is chasing... that front clip set up is off the Vitara...Adsport wrote:heres mine mate, '89 WT (not that that should really make a lot of difference) with "flexiglass" fibreglass roof section ( i have front and rear ones )

my rear bolts kept "walking" out, so left em... tabs seem to keep it locked in well enough with the front clips latched down.
