Hey guys,
after smashing yet another CV in the lux, this time the Passenger
or LONG side.
Problem is, this time, I have shagged out the Brass bush that goes inside
the spindle or stub axle. Basically what the outer axle runs on.
Now I went to Toyota, they wanted $125 bux for the bastard thing!
So I went to Repco, they have it for $45. So I ordered it from them.
Now....how do I get the OLD shagged bush out of the spindle or stub axle?
do I just use a punch or something? What is the best way to do it.
Also, I noticed that the INSIDE of the front axle housing, has copped a
bit of a gouging from the old CV slappin' round in there. A mate told
me to use a dremel on the burrs and smooth it all out? Is this a good go?
Any help you guys can give me would be great as I need to get my rig
back and wheeling again ASAP.
Cheers,
Bart

Hi guys,
thanks for the info.
will try to get a pic or 2 of the damage.
this side is not as bad as the other side (which I broke a fw weeks ago)
but it still has slight damage. and of course the bush is farked too.
but I should be able to get a new aftermarket axle in there still as the
gouges are more down inside the hub body.
The other side was worse.
basically due to the CV slapping around in the housing broken,
it has gouged out the part where the flat bits line up to slide in,
so instead of being able to fit my brand new aftermarket CV in there,
I had to use an old standard Toyota one, as it was marginally thinner.
also, I can see gouges out of the bottom kingpin bearing but it
seems to be operational for now...I didn't risk removing it due to
said problems fitting one back in there. lucky that!
RE the gouges, what is the best way to smooth them out a bit?
Dremel??
Cheers,
Bart

I already bought these replacement ones so I guess if these ones
blow within 12 months, I'm definately going for longfields.
Thing is though, I wheeled on my old CVs for like 5 years with twin
lockers, duals and 31"s without any breakage, and I fitted the 35"s at
least 9 months ago now.
Whats the deal?
