Superior Engineering Rotating Drop Shackles
I never said flex was bad .. I said it was overrated ...
A locked stocker would drive that.
I also said that with proper spring and shackle setup you would get equal flex to the wacky shackles without the weird handling traits.
does anyone have the link to mocks "critter" before he went full exo etc flexing as it drives the rut, easily maxing out the 9012 rancho's

" If governments are involved in the covering up the knowledge of aliens, Then they are doing a much better job of it than they do of everything else "
and thats the sort of information i come here to read, BUT 9/10 of all write ups from 2002/2003/2004 are, im sure great but the pics are gone which makes it totally useless.love_mud wrote:

yes longer leafs softer leafs will make it flex and move like any set up.
i like to drive rocks where a bit of clearance and approch and ramp over and departure are needed...
what is my best way to get a good setup with leafs??
i have full RUF

I just cant see someone having road-driven sierra big enough to need them. simcoz's rig on irok's is one that springs to mind..
That said I'd sooner have long flat flexy leaves with a big shackle angle for lots of drop and/or a 3/4" elliptical rear before drop shackles...
meaning what exactly? that i've been there & done that?
like i said, pull em off, sell em, put the $ towards a locker. in hindsight the first mod i'd do to a sierra is a locker if I was to wheel it as is.
I actually only made them because i wanted to fit longer leaves without cutting & welding / relocating stock mounts...
I ended up pulling them out all, & getting way more flex by going to a conventional extended shackle & relocating the spring so its well setup for droop, improved on-road drivablity too.
I still reckon they can have their place & work well, providing they have the unsprung weight to put them into any use.
(i.e. See simcoz's rig with bigger diffs on 36+" irocks & liam from bbm's with Dana's & 35" boggers...)
All the gear, No idea...
I was pointing out your utter contradiction. But yes I agree on wacky shackles.Dee wrote:GRPABT1 wrote:Bwahahahaha! with a bit of speed i could of takin my girlfriends lancer thru there as well, whats your point..GRPABT1 wrote:I could have driven that line in my rear locked zook any day of the week, flex is over rated
did u think that because there was a pic taken that it was struggling or stuck or maxed out or a HARD track worthy of a " i could drive that in a stocker"
but yes zooks are very capable in near std form, no one will doubt that, i drove nearly all the same tracks b4 as i do now just now its easier and safer and b4 it was more fun, nothing like wheelstands

OK we get it, you like your wacky shackles. Just as I like my calmini kit. Stop trying to defend it beyond you're levels of knowledge, plenty of people on here have waaaay more experience in zooks and drop shackles and have mentioned their negatives and have the opinion that they outway the positives.

I can see how you might think its a contradiction, but it's meant as a 'speaking from my experiences with drop shackles' type thing...GRPABT1 wrote:I was pointing out your utter contradiction. ok ok ok the higher powers have spoken, ill listen to the advice of others!!
im talking front
what is the best way to set it up???
i already have rears up front, i have longer shocks, relocated shock mounts, extended brake lines.
i dont have chassic extention!!
i do have a link that extends the shackle to make a better shackle angle.
this is ment to be a tech thread, where less knowledged ppl ask questions and hopefully get informative answers!!

You want a balance between the front and rear, with about a 50/50 split on articulation.
Idealy this needs to happen all that way through the suspensions cylce not just when the rear runs out of flex and starts to load up the front suspension.

hey mate can u put up pics of your rears up front without chassis extension or send them to me11_evl wrote:ok ok ok the higher powers have spoken, ill listen to the advice of others!!
