How far forward does the front axle need to be moved when you do a shackle reversal.

I am putting rear Hilux leaves up front on my zook and am thinking about SR to get a better approach angle.

Also, would it be a problem to run it on the road with that much caster? It should self centre pretty damn quick :finger:

Yes it is .. without an engineers certificate ..

Well a spring over is Illegal as well .. as is a body lift etc ..
Hell even going to a 235/75 is illegal as you have increased the rolling diameter of the tyre by more than X% (cant recall the exact figure but I belive it's 10%)

Get and engineers and all is good ..

the axle has to come forward around 1-2" and the chassis has to be extended by about 4".

I have put Hilux rears in the front and had to move the front mounts forward 4".

Ive done mine , moved axle forward 50mm , but I only used rear leaves !!!!!!

Sam, the rear Hilux springs have and offset centre pin. That makes a long side and a short side. My experience has lead me to believe that the axle should be mounted closer to the shackle end to get the best wheel travel. This would mean that the "long side" of the spring would be in front of the axle and the "short side" of the spring would be behind the axle.

Is this how you had yours set up?????

No I have the long section at the shackle end as it would sit in a hilux.On previous cars we have done this eg Daves 4-runner the travel is more than a 14" rancho.

So you reckon the same setup will work on a Zook OK if the spring rate is lowered (compared to the stock Hilux spring rate)?

What do you think about the caster?

you will have to do something about it as positive caster makes the steering heavy (not a major problem in a zook), but you will have to rotate the diff to correct the pinion angle which will put the caster back near standard anyway.
oh sh#t, not more dents :D

I agree to get the caster exact you would have to rotate the knuckles on the diff but just rotating the diff to get the right pinion angle will be close enough.
