I am just about to drop the block, crank, rods and head off to the machine shop to have the donk from my 87 HJ61 renewed.
I am going the full rebuild, block bored, crank grind (if it needs it). injector pump has been fully reco-ed, and the turbo rebuilt.
Any tips on what to look out for when screwing it all back together?

About to rebuilt my 12-HT any tips, tricks or info??

Will do mate, I plan on washing the block down with hot soapy water after a good degrease.
I did a bit of reseach on the net and there seems to be a general concensus that premature ring wear occures from the bores not being washed properly after being honed....
One thing I did notice, the three banjo bolts that holds the oil line on between the feed on the block to the injector pump then to the front cover, one has a smaller hole in the middle, and I think it came out of the injector pump. I will check the manual and see if this is correct, I would have thought it would have been for the timing cover feed....
I also have a factory gasket set, have heard aftermarket head gaskets are not reliable on the 12-HT

Has just over 425K on the clock. Engine was running quite well, I pulled it down to give it a freshen up and everything was pretty good inside except for the pistons which have flogged the top ring grooves out.
I have had the car for the last four years, previous owner was not very mechanically minded. (used to lock the hubs in and drive around in 4wd on the bitumen when it was raining for "better traction".......)
Cant say what it was maintained like before I got it. I have spent a few dollars on it, and I worked out that to get an equivalent cruiser in an 80 series I would be looking at spending around the 25K mark (sahara) and then who knows what I would have to spend on it after that.

That's the same way i look at my 60, it needs a bit of work here and there but for me get the same out of a new model i would be looking at lot more $$$$.
