Steering Problems Please help
I have a 1984 hj47 and since i have bought it i have noticed that the pitman arm (arm that runs from steering box to idler box) rubs on the schockie is there a arftermarket arm available. I have looked and none of the arms are bent and i have rebuilt the steering box, idler box and all ball joints are new.
i made it out of 10mm plate.. just made some templates out of cardboard, stensiled it out, grinder, drilled
my original cardboard templates
changed slightly to this:
there was a hole for a bolt which went thru the webbing about 1/3 off the bottom of the shock tower.. stops it pivioting on the origninal shock mount bolt.
other peices yet to be drilled
i dont actually have a pic of it finished and in position so sorry about that.
other people have drilled out the rivets on the shock tower and put some plate inbetween the shock tower and chassis to space it out.
a better option is 60series steering to remove that drag link.
