Hi all,
just wondering, has anyone on here has done or looked into doing a 2LT engine swap?
i have roughly measured, and should fit perfectly with a body lift.
(I don t want to hear Blah Blah, it will weigh to much etc. as i have already partialy factored that into my suspension setup, its more the technicalities of mating it up to the gearbox etc.)
the main benefit i want is the torque.

I am not a fan of the 2LT to begin with, but by the time you redo the engine, gearbox, tcase. diffs, put a yota power steering system on it, most likey yota springs ... why not just do a body swap and pick up the stronger and longer better aftermarket supported chassis as well ?
I have really seriously considered doing this, but in Vic getting it engineered would be an absloute nightmare ...

You have mentioned that you have factored the weight in to your suspension setup but have you factored the weight into the balance of the car. Your basically throwing a big heavy cast lump of poop over the front axle of a very light car.

Do you actually have the mass of the 2L motor? not having a go its just that I was after this a while ago for a Hilux engine conversion and couldn't find it. I worked with the assumption of about 250kg give or take a fair bit...
If you planning on bolting the 2L up to the Sierra gearbox, not a chance. The entire Sierra box is about the size of Toyota G52 (standard 2L box) bellhousing. I have a spare one of each sitting in the shed next to each other, believe me, there is a huge difference.

its a lot of work to still end up with sierra diffs under the car that will break with that much weight over the front unless you put some money into them.

Alright I know you are using the calmini 5" kit which would appreciate the extra weight but as mentioned the suspension is not the only thing to consider. I would SERIOUSLY re-think this plan and possibly go for a drive in a zook with a 1.6 vitara motor or 1.3 GTi with gears and you may change your mind about needing more torque.
