CV,s please
Moderator: Micka
CV,s please
I am looking for a set of CV,s to fit 82 rangie. The front end is set up with 24 spline air locker with macnarra axles and is used in comps. What i was thinking was Ashcroft, but is there any thing alse available and if so who sells them and how much. Thanks
I have the same combination Rangie with hilux CV's !
After breaking heaps of toughened ones , I bit the bullet
and brought a Set of LONGFIELDS from the states .
I've given then a flogging but to date (2years) haven't
had a problem ! Cost was around $600 i think ???
But I had already spent more than that before Anyway!!!

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
Fit toyo 30 spline side gears to the arb and get the toyo axles and cvs from rovertracks tho you will have to machiene out the stubs a tad and im sure ya have to run the shorter hubs and stubs from a 95 on D1
Cheers

I wont tell you how much my ones cost from Mal Story. They were out of the original Bowler batch. Ouch. These and the Ashcrofts came with axles also.defmec wrote:ashcroft $1750 pair of cvs
These are also completely different to the Longs/Ashcroft/Rovertracks ones.

Rovertracks are the way to go! Ashcroft have muscled rovertracks out of their current supplier, but they will have better CVs from another supplier soon.
Ashcroft has way too much markup opn his CVs IMHO.

as with most things british, they think they are the only ones making it and ask twice as much for half the product......

When the new Rovertracks (Longs???) arrive, why will they be better?ISUZUROVER wrote:Rovertracks are the way to go! Ashcroft have muscled rovertracks out of their current supplier, but they will have better CVs from another supplier soon.

Keith knows his stuff, so I am sure his new products will be as good or better than his old ones.Slunnie wrote:When the new Rovertracks (Longs???) arrive, why will they be better?ISUZUROVER wrote:Rovertracks are the way to go! Longtracks CVs from Rovertracks were about the same $$$ (as longfields), and unlike Longfields, they were a direct fit - like Ashcroft.WICKED wrote:Most place's doing after market CV's do!ISUZUROVER wrote: Ashcroft has way too much markup opn his CVs IMHO.
LONGFIELDS are the way to go!
Keith will have new products from different suppliers soon - and I assume still at great prices. So if you aren't in a hurry I would hold off for a while.

Righteo guys...
Yes this price is correct @ $1125 + tax for the CV joint kit which we have stock...yes the the CV's do carry a 5 year warranty...we have had no problem at all with the Ashcroft CV's and Axles...
From the top of my head...
Early Range/Defender CV's $1125+ tax a pair
Disco 1 Non ABS and ABS CV's $1125+ tax a Pair
Disco 2 Front axle/CV kit $1850.00+ tax a Pair
4.11 CWP $600+ i think?
All of which is in Stock as well and a Range of Ashcroft Recon Gearboxes and Transfer boxes etc
I hope this helps and might clear a few things up...I anyone needs help of Advise i'm glad to help...

aren't those in pic your DII cvs?
Keith only sold Defender type CVs...
Absolutely. Sorry though, my comment was more in relation to the costs of CVs than the actual CV. They are D2 CV's and made by Maxi.

Slunnie, the cv's them selves were not made by Maxi Drive, all the axles and other stuff were, but not the cv jointsSlunnie wrote:Gday MicheleMichele wrote:Hi Slunnie,Slunnie wrote: These are also completely different to the Longs/Ashcroft/Rovertracks ones.

Thats correct. I think with this batch and even after that batch when he changed CV manufacturer and things got all funny and went bad from there WRT tolerances of the CV which affected other stuff like the ring fit etc and he aborted them unless pressed to do them.uninformed wrote:Slunnie, the cv's them selves were not made by Maxi Drive, all the axles and other stuff were, but not the cv jointsSlunnie wrote:Gday MicheleMichele wrote:Hi Slunnie,Slunnie wrote: These are also completely different to the Longs/Ashcroft/Rovertracks ones.
