HJ61 Axle Loading? To take LPG and Long Range Tanks legally

Post by PeterInSa »

Want to put LPG on my Turbo Diesel and Maybe Long Range Tanks. The additional weight will blow my 2810 ATM limit. Am told by a Consulting Engineer that I need to know the weight carrying capacity of the Front and Rear axles to determine how much additional weight I can legally carry. And with additional leaf springs I could go up to this.

Appreciate this info and where can I get an official hardcopy for the Consulting Engineer and Rego Department.

Note a Toyota sticker on the drivers door says max tyre load per wheel is 1000Kg so you would expect that the axles could take this load as well

Thanks

its not just the tyres that are rated, I work alot with trucks and axel loads, some trucks can take say 3.5tonne per tyre put something else might limit them, as in the steering box, or the springs.

cheers

Hi,
The Consulting Engineer, assured me that since I had 3 extra leafs in the back springs and two in the front, the only limitation would be the axle carrying capacity. Cost of the certficate/inspection by the consulting Engineer $380.

Thanks
