Got some pics taken today, just need hobzee to upload them to the computer so they be posted.
Update for today (MONDAY)
With rain overnight saw the ground in camp turn to absolute soup and everyone thought they were in for a good day. Good thing was that the dust was gone as it is really bad up here.
SS3 (25min DNF) was a mud stage with a run up the creek, the lowest group started on this stage first with half to most of them driving the stage. The second car from the middle group onto the stage had to winch the first crossing and then everyone else had to winch from the same spot. As the day went on the track deteriorated rapidly and saw cars from the top group (who ran last) doing the stage in 15 minutes or more with over 4 winches, whereas the fastest time was just a little over 1 minute. Some action today:
Car 18 - bashing and crashing through the stage, broke some bunting and did some minor damage to the drivers side.
Car 22 - Totalled the winch with big head on twice into a tree thinking it would fall over, bullbar smashed, bent bonnet, lots of damage
Car 21 (the buggy) saw some interesting lines and a big crowd pleaser
Car 5 - broke winch rope and DNF
Car 42 - broke winch rope, completed stage under DNF time.
SS4 (10 min DNF) saw the cars drive up a steep rocky hill known as 'The Bluff' Most cars did this stage without hassles but a special mention must goto Car 36 who was the only competitor to drive the bluff, an excellent drive! A fair few from the top group did the stage all within 10 seconds of each other, so was very close.
SS5 (75 min DNF) was a navigation stage where you had to get 8 waypoints as fast as possible. The first group found it hard without any tracks made but lots of tree mowing saw tracks made. Few teams had dramas finding points but most did well on this stage.
Looks like scores will be posted up tomorrow morning and hopefully get the photos up ASAP.

Sunday afternoon Smithie went for a run up the creek for a practice, and seized the front diff, after pulling it apart, we found all but two of the crown wheel bolts had come off and got caught in the diff centre. We pilaged the tow vehicle who luckily had a 4.6 diff with a locker in it.Sprint666 wrote:Cheers hottie, sounds like it is going well, what happened with the diff???

Oh boy this must of caused the results to change some on this stage??.......I recall having the same opportunity @TT02, they started smallest wheels first thru the mud stage and only 3 of us made it (100 points)...leaving the monster trucks to sink and dare I say it....dnf!
So it's refreshing to find out that Cliffhanger is sharing the fairness.

Just come back from the hills. Half the field are doing the 100 pt navi stage at the moment.
Rob and Bill Barton in the buggy got the quickest time in the rocky hills stage motorkhana, very impressive time.

Today the group was split into two groups based on sundays performance. The bottom group first off had a motorkhana stage this morning, with a 10 minute DNF, everyone bar Car 23 (Greg Smith) did this stage within DNF time, Greg staked a tyre and needed fixing on stage and didnt finish in time.
The buggy was the quickest on this stage by 10 seconds, with the Ironman GU second.
Next off the bottom group had a 100 waypoint navigation stage to do in 5.5 hours and have not yet returned to camp.
As for the top group, they had a navigation stage this morning and i havent heard anything about it, and they just finished a speed stage half in the creek bed, and half in the paddock. Cars started off in 5 minute intervals on this stage. i watched the first 5 cars of the top group and reckon that Car 19 (Assassins) caught up about 4 in time on Car 1(Todd & Ivan), and Muppet caught up about 4 and a half minutes on Birdy.
Thats all i have for the moment, probably will give another update tonight with progressive scores and just organising to upload some pictures now, so hopefully wont be too much longer.
