chassis stands

Post by AcTioN13 »

when working on your 4wd, and having to do suspension mods. where can you get chassis stands that are high enough to use, or does anyone have plans for a strong design.

and fabrication isnt a problem, welder and fabricator by day.

cheers,

jackson

There are a few differetn sizes, supercrap had them last time I looked. Repco also have larger ones, the rachet type, most stable & the strongest.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.

usually not high enough (even truck ones) and big and bulky and not worth the $$ IMO

I'd just get some scrap from around work (if i was a welder/fabricator) and knock some up. If i was to do it a wide base of about 400mm square or round, withe and a frame mount on top to the height desired. Maybe even put some holes in a telescopic section for adjusting. Free and strong and made to measure.

exactly ben

the guys at carroll's spring works have made a bunch of stands exactly like this using SHS with four triangular legs at the bottom, and a upright tube welded in the middle. the tube contains another sliding tube that has a pin through to adjust the height. Very big, and very strong, and stable

I just got a set of ratchet type stands from Repco...at $130 each they weren't cheap.

I think they lift from 300mm to 600mm

Cheers

I made some on Monday.

Open up to 1metre. Cost me $10 in scrap steel and 30 mins to cut and weld.

I used two rims welded together once to hold up a 60 series that i bought some diffs out of. Worked a treat, and plenty high enough.

I've got 5 tonne truck ratchet type. They go to about 30" tall. They've been very good.
