CDL - Centre diff lock - locking the centre diff to get 50-50 drive front and rear i.e real 4wd
ACE - Active Cornering Enhancement(i think thats what it stands for) - basically active sway bars, hyrdrolicly driven, kicks in above a certain speed and pretty much eliminates body roll, i had this on my D2, drove as good as my old VT SS pretty much.
I would stick to the d2a update models, the ones with the different headlights(round peices in them) these all have a CDL, prior to that all the d2's didnt have CDL, earlier ones 99-2001 had all the bits in the transfer case and just required adding a level from a d2a or aftermarket levr, but from late 2001 early 2002 till the update model they had it completly deleted from the trasnfer case needing a major job(replacing part of the transfer case housing) to reactivate it.
another thing you may find in some d2's while your looking is SLS - Self leveling suspension, this is just an airbag rear that automatically levels out regardless of load, it also has an offroad mode giving you 30mm of extra height in the rear when you want it(the d2s have a fat bum so this is very handy) but like all air suspension they can fail. I had this setup on mine i loved it, and it gave me little trouble but i have heard of others having bad experiences with it.
overall if i was going to get a disco it would be a d2a, better motors then the d1, more power, much nicer interior, alot more comfortable, more load space, better suspension setup, and with ACE they handle way better on road.
