Market Value V Agreed Value
With my insurance I have the option of
Allianz http://www.allianz.com.au/internet/alli ... prehensive
Market Value $27,751
or
Unique Car Insurance http://www.uniquecar.com.au/
Agreed Value $25,000 (They are backed by Lloyds of London.)
Which would you go for, the price difference is only about $60 allianz cheaper.
DGA, the Australian 4wd Insurance was $1300! more than double the other 2!

FYI, according to TCIS, CGU will only do 1inch lifts now.

GXL Turbo Diesel 80 series- 6" King springs + Rancho in-cab kit- 35" BFG Muds Twin ARB airlockers.
God of Magnificant Ideas!
Time to read the "fine print", With my home and contents insurance I have taken pics of the "valuables" and had a "valuation" by an independant accessor, this was then given to the company and was listed as part of the policy.
My best advise is to get covered EXACTLY what you want covered, know its included in the policy, and get the whole thing in writing. This way if its writtenoff then you know you'll get a bullbar/drivinglights/swampers/highlift etc as they are stated in the policy. I've seen too many ppl get a payout and then realise that they still have to spend a couple of G's to bring the replacement up to the std of the original
Most companys have differant schedules as to rates of damage/written off. I'd be very suprised if both providers actually have the exact same coverage.
Again....... READ the "fine print" !!

murcod wrote:DGA Insurance (Australian 4WD) are underwritten by CGU and will cover any mod that is legal in your state- so if 2" lifts are legal then CGU does cover them!
Not according to TCIS, not anymore, they may do with current policys but wont renew... DGA = millionares insurance.
I just called CGU Direct. they wont do ANY lifts anymore at all.
If yoru currently with TCIS, they can continue your policy thru TCIS, but only up to 3inch. Confused? I am

Sit fdown and work out retail prices on your accessories, what it would cost to replace them... Fridges, storage, radios, bars, winch, spotties, seats, suspension bits, etc etc, soon hits $10k, without trying.

Interesting how quoting reveals the full message......... anyway......
It appears that modification aren't included, just bolt on accessories. So pretty much all I had was winch and barwork........
Both mine and Alison's shorty were insured at the same time with the same place (we both turned 25!!!!). With all stuff listed hers was just under 15k mine just over. Thats agreed value.

Yup, cant insure my lift, etc. But you can do panhards seperate... They are considered consumables (shocks and springs)

If you go directly through CGU they won't even cover you off road!!! (unless they've changed their policy in the last year).
DGA = millionares insurance.
I've found DGA's price to be about the cheapest for my Feroza- go figure... [/quote]
David
may have missed the point cos of not reading carefully, but if ya haven't got ur insurance sorted out DEFINATELY go agreed value. problem with market value is that they may be able to 'reevaluate' market value at the time of an accident or whatever. i was told the market value of my rocky was $12K and was paying a premium for that... rolled it and they reevaluated to around $8.5 and wrote it of. after NRMA took their cut i only got around $7.5
i got screwed bigtime
