I did it, after a long agonising decision I got me a new Car.
The hardest thing about me decision was to let go of my beloved Jimny.
Please find below pictures of my new 2002 2-door 2Ltr Grand Vitara and my Jimny.
I made my first modifications today (29th April 2008). I started by changing the oil and oil filter. Replaced the standard air filter with a K&N Air Filter, and was going to replace the fuel filter but ran out of time. Finding it was the first mission, then changing it up there above the rear diff would have taken too long so I just left it for another day.
Out came the original stereo and in went an Alpine CD player with full speed iPod controll. The little pocket and clock where left out and replaces with a GME TX3200 UHF using a din mount front pannel.
I also plan to fit Alpine Type-R Speakers in the front doors.
A lot more work is going on, so i'll keep you all posted.
Took the GV out to Stockton Beach today (4th May 2008) and what an animal. It had insane power when ever I needed it, with the simple squeeze of my right foot, unlike my old Jimny. The GV didn't have the clearance of the old Jimny, but I'm working on that.
Today, we checked out the Signa, stopped at tin city, found the tank traps, did a water crossing or two and just basically had some fun.
Anyway check out some photos:
Today (5th May 2008) I fitted a set of spot lights in the front bar. Every thing went smooth and just fell into place. Firstly I drilled a 20mm pilot hole then ran the air saw around to make a bigger hole. Clipped the surrounds in took out the front inner guards and then mounted the lights from in behind the bar. Check out the photo.
Hey had half the day off work today (9th May 2008) so I wired up an alarm in my GV and finished running the UHF cable into the car. I didn't want to drill a hole in the GV but just had too.

Stockton Beach lies just north of Newcastle, about a hundred and fifty kilometres from Sydney.
The tank traps at Stockton Beach are slowly been covered by sand.
The traps were put along Stockton Beach to stop the invasion during WW2.
The traps have been a popular spot to go to when on Stockton Beach but are getting harder to find because they are being covered by the sand. A strong wind in the right direction might cover them up or just might expose them to what they were.

It's getting close, I got word that my spring spacers will be here tomorrow. I will then have everything I need to lift my Grand Vitara, I think. LOL
Anyway I started with the OME Kit which consists of lifted springs and shocks, I then purchased rear shock spacers, followed by front diff drop brackets and a panhard rod adjuster. Next I got some camber bolts, front and rear drive shaft spacers, and lastly some front shock/strut spacers. Hopefully tomorrow I should have my spring spacers and well it's game on from there.
I'm pretty much flat out at work all of June, so I've basically given my self two day's in the first week of July to fit everything. At that time I'll also order my tyres and hopefully if all goes well I'll have something good to show you.
When fitting all the above I will also fit manual locking hubs to the front which I got off a earlier model Vitara.
Check out my stuff, I'm excited.

I checked that link you sent and that thing is not for my car. I have the Grand Vitara. I think thats for the Vitara. My diff has like a 4 Link set up with a panhard rod where that thing thing you showed me is for the earlier diff setup of a Vitara. Thanks heaps anyway. I'll keep you all updated on how the lift goes.

NO modifications yet, but I did take the GV out to Port Macquarie last week end.
Port Macquarie for those who don't know, is two and a half hours drive north of Newcastle. Its a quiet tourist town with some of the best body boarding beaches in the world. If I heard correctly, I think they say the current worlds Body Boarding Champion grew up here.
Anyway I thought I'd share some photos with you.
Town beach is Port Macquarie's main and most popular body boarding beach. It is adjacent to the breakwater at the mouth of the Hastings.
Tacking Point with its lighthouse is one of the outstanding features of the Port Macquarie coastline. We stopped here and watched the wales off the coast as they migrate up North.

My BIG problem now is (+)CAMBER.
Even with camber bolts I still get the best of +1.9deg Camber.
HOW DO I FIX IT?
Can anyone help me here? Can I buy offset camber bushes for the lower control arm? Will this fix my problem?

With such a big lift, I thought I'de fit some manual hubs, that way for everyday driving I can have them disengaged, in return not placing extra wear and tear on the front diff and CV's.
Lifting the GV up so high, I thought I'd try to minimize the CV shaft angle by dropping the diff by an inch. I used a VTTR diff drop.
Now for much easier rear end lift.
Panhard rod adjuster, bring the diff back to the centre again.
When lifting the GV as high as I have, the rear tail shaft pulled itself from the transfer case, so to fix this I used a 1inch tail shaft spacer.
While I was under the GV, I thought, I may as well change the fuel filter, and thank god i did. It was filthy, and from what I know probably never changed.
And back to my problem. POSITIVE CAMBER

I had the same issue with the X-90, it looked like it had been kicked in the goolies
You should check out his website as well, he did Project Stumpy - same model as yours, massive buildup...and it's all done in pics etc...

DRS smells like a cat-food milkshake... and wet socks... and gorgonzola cheese... all whizzed up in a blender
The only other thing needed, apart from fixing the camber issue, is extending brake lines. The fronts I just cable tied against the shocks which works, giving me that extra bit of length, but the rear had to be made. I went to Carter's Clutch & Brake and $42 later the brake line was made.
Using Carter's before I can only say the service was great. I highly recommend them to anyone.
