Just been through it with the Land Transport Authority, they will only refer you to their web site. But it seems new rules became effective from jan 2008. We spoke to a certifer and he said no way jose, this was said with a paki accent.
Hoping someone here or over the ditch might have a clue, but whatever it must comply with the rules I mentioned.

Bogged, yep this was the one I was replacing the chasis on, a 1994 coil cab. We bought a small farm over there and you cant find coil cabs in N.Z. Unfortunately they wont let me bring it in due the those to rules. The 01 i'm sure would refer to 2001.
Anyway ive got a chasis for the swap, $500.00 for the bloody security check plus a bit more to have it engineered for the swap.
This is gettin to hardand I would recomend any contemplaiting this to check vary carefully before going ahead. I guess it will still be a cheap ute, it owes me $5.500 sitting in the yard, a bit of time in swapping and and a pay job for the tray brackets to be cut off and re welded on the wagon chasis plus the the previous expence mentione. I am hoping about $8000.00 all up on the road, and mechanicly shes a gem, 192000Ks

Why hasnt it got a compliance plate?
It should have one, every road vehicle supplied after 1971 (the inception of ADR1) should have a compliance plate.
Without it you wont be able to prove compliance.
PM me if you want

It will not have the numbers on the plate, that was discontinued in 1988 when the 2nd Edition ADR's were discontinued. Your vehicle complies with the 3rd Edition ADR's.johno wrote:Its got the plate mate, just not those numbers I need as its 1994 and not post 2001
John
It has to comply with ADR30 but cannot & will not comply with 79 because it was introduced in 2005 & will have a GVM of over 2.7 tonnes. ADR80 would be the one you would have to comply to but it was introduced in 2005 also.
Find your Approval number (its on the compliance plate) & type it into this search engine http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/pls/wwws ... ify_Search
Just use the approval number & it should tell you what was the go, if it doesnt then the record is too old.
The fact that it has a compliance plate on it means that it meets all the ADR's apliccable at the time of manufacture.
Just looking at this ADR Apliccability chart it says that it should actually comply with ADR36 (NA2 category vehicles)

I hope this helps, happy to help with any more questions.

MK, i'm gratefull for your help, the car is not at my home address so over the weekend I will copy exactly what was on the plate and pm you.
I have now spoken to several certifiers in N.Z. and they reckon it will not comply, but maybe we can find something to fight on.
Really appreciate your help, being an old fart i'm not to good on this computer stuff
