please help glow plug issue

Post by UrbanRedneck »

Hi all i need help i just fitted new glow plugs to my rd28t and started it only to notice the glow plug light starts flashing.
I have since worked out that i was supplied with the wrong plugs for the back 3.
I have since replaced with the old ones but the issue remains and now wont even idle.

PLEASE HELP

Try disconnecting the 2 relays associated with the glow plugs and see if flashing light stops. One of the relays might be faulty/sticking. From memory, one relay supplies +ve to the plugs, and the other relay supplies an earth return.

all fixed..... the internal wiring in the relay melted and went open cct.. interesting that went before the fusible link!.. but something to put in the memory for next time!

Thanx guys especialy cam for saving me from doing my head in.

I just cant beleive that i actualy tested and found an electrical problem which was confirmed by the man Cam.

Nick you were spot on the money but when the relays were disconnected the light still flashes i guess the control unit still realises there is a fault.

Cheers Damo
