hey people im in the process of converting my 86 rangie to a 300tdi and four spd Zf box. i managed to lay my hands on a written off disco so i have a complete vehicle to "obtain" parts from. the engine and drive train wont pose any problems however i want to install the entire interior and wiring loom out of the disco into the rangie including the dashboarb, instument panel and heater/aircon assembly. im told this has been done before and the someone out there in roverland has drawings detailing the exact locations of the brackets, holes, lumps bumps etc that need to be transfered over the the rangie firewall.
any help or info would be muchly appriciated
thanks
Luke

yup "fun" is one way to put it!! im at the point now where im going to take to both my beloved rangie and the donor disco with and air cut off saw so no turning back now. cant wait to finish it cause ive always loved the suspension and drivetrain set up of the rangie but hated the cheap arse plastic trim that falls apart if u spend any time in the sun!!! its quite scary when u compare the two bodys, how little has changed between 1986 and 1998 but its good for those of us that always hafta build stuff
yeah the disco driveline is going in its a 300tdi with a zf4spd and lt230. thats the easy bit ive starting fitting the dash mounts into the rangie im just about ready to transfer the steering colum mounts and drivers side kick panel so its coming along drinking lots of beer over new years put a bit of a damper on the project!
We have a bloke in the Rangie club who has fitted a latyer disco dash and it looks great. Like you said, the cheap and nasty plastic bits do spoil the Rangie interior (half of the bits have fallen off in mine anyway).
At least you will have what you want and it hasn't cost you a small mortage, plus yourrego & fuel bills will be cheaper!!

Trav

There is a guy I know who put a 2dr rangie body onto a complete disco running gear and fitted the disco seats and dash. I think the conversion was done by mike hall at rover care at slacks ck in brisbane.
