just wanted to find out a bit of info on putting on a toyota carb to replace the factory piece of sh!t . like what model carb is best i assume early corolla and if they clear the bonnet and if it is a straight bolt on or do you need a adapter (if made) or make one myself

toyota carb on sierra
A Corolla carb off a KE20-70 will fit.. The foutr bolts that hold it on are spaced the same but Corolla uses studs in the manifold and Zook uses long bolts.
If you remove the studs from the Corolla manifold and fit them to the Zook manifold it will bolt straight on.
The accelerator mechanism will swap from Zook carb to Corolla.
The air inlet pipe to cleaner is the only thing that is really different.
You'll need to make something up or fit the Corolla aircleaner.
Having said all that.........
If I were you I'd fix the original..
My Zook has the standard carb and runs fine until it falls over and even then it keeps running, likewise I can stand it on its rear bar and still redline it!
A properly serviced standard Aisin carb is a good thing on a Zook and I wouldn't bother fitting a Corolla carb or a Weber.

the reason i want to replace the stock carb is because all of the shafts have a fair amount of wear in them to my surprize for a car with only 101000 km on it.
i was justing wanting to get a carb thats a bit more reliable and cheap as the coin is a bit tight at the moment.
how do they perfom off road the toyota carb that is?

The Corolla carb is almost IDENTICAL to the Zook item. The major difference is the Corolla carb is manual choke, the Zook is water temp (auto) operated. Both are made by Aisin for 1300cc engines.
A Corolla carb will perform just as well as a Zook unit (even on angles)but isn't a 5 minute swap by the time you adapt all the bits.
I don't think I'd be buying a Corolla carb and adapting it when Zook carbs aren't that dear even from wreckers... I just sold a good one for $40.

I got my corolla carby of a 3k (1.2) motor (late 70's I think it was) for $40 and it is a straight bolt on as it is an aisin carby just like the original sierra one. The 4k corolla carby fits to but has more emissions crap hanging of it still not as much as the sierra one tho.
The air cleaner connection hat of your sierra fits straight onto top of the new carby so there's no problem there and most the parts are interchangeable.
I got the jets out of my original carby into the 3k one so it'd match my motor a little better and seems to be running ever so slightly lean at full revs.
It runs awesome offroad doesn't even think of cutting out on angles the only time it did was when my zook had a sleep on its side. The only thing I can fault with it is that doesn't quite flow as much as the old weber but it is way more reliable than the stock carby and the weber.
