can you paint acrylic over 2pac
cant remember if you can or not

If you mean automotive acrylic lacquer, No. It'll craze.
You can the other way round though, 2pak over acrylic primer.

Dont put the first coat on 2 wet if the 2 pak is still a bit green (new)

Acrylic will go over 2 pack no worries. Try it in an inconspicuous area first or on a scrap panel.

i guess should elaborate, are you wanting to lay acrylic colour over 2k colour or you going to primer/sealer in between...this makes the diff. Also are you painting in acrylic for any other reason than its cheaper, if you have been scared off by the 2k is too hard threads don't be its simply not true very easy to paint.

yes the colour is white 2pac and changing it to dark green acrylic.
was going to prime in between 2pac and acrylic.
i all ready have the paint thats why going acrylic.
what do you suggest to do

Anyone know if you can buy 2pac rattle cans in Oz ? no double it would be expensive but I only need to spray some clear coat.

you can't get true 2k in a can. 2 pack needs the acrylic monomer and the isocynate to work. It would set in the can! If it is marketed as 2k its a lie.

you can spray acrylic over 2k but they can stress crack over time especially if there is no mechanical bond between the two. 2k is used as a release agent in moulds as it is so hard to key to. That said you shouldn't spray 2k on top of 2k either without keying it in or it does lift.

I have done it in the past using 1200-1500 paper and it works.

also there is no reason to use a primer as nothing can stick better then the paint itself - it has the higher resin content and lowest filler content so it sticks better than primer.

It’s expensive but you can buy 2K urethane aerosols overseas, you press a button to mix the two components then it functions as a normal spray, I doubt it’s available here but you never know.

ok fair enough. 2k has a far higher molecular weight than any paint traditionally in a can. It doesn't thin well with solvents and would defeat the high solid benefit of 2k. but i'll keep an open mind
