hey guys

am going to mount my radiator in the back of my truck under the tray.

i was wondering what setups ppl use to bleed the system??

i have a new mq diesel radiator with twin el thermos on it.

should i leave the radiator cap on it blocked off and run a line up to a overflow\surge tank on the roll bars and use that tank to control the amount of coolant in the system and the bleeding of air???

oh its for the cooling of a 350 chev and the radiator will be under the highest point of the engine hence the questions about bleed points.

will i need a bleed point in the engine bay at all???

sorry about all the questions i just want to get this done once and done properly.

the car is going to be a daily driver and used for 4wd comp work.

be careful with putting the rad under the level of the head, most guys mount them onto of the tray.

you will end up doing a head b4 you know it

you will need bleed points at ALL the high spots.
one in the top of the thermostat housing.
one at the radiator and posibly in the hoses/pipes running to the rad.
it depends on the final setup and where the pipes and hoses run.

i am now going to use a ford radiator and thermos and the ford surge tank so that tank will be mounted higher than the engine so that will bleed out the rear end.

the highest point of the engine is still lower than the top of the radiator.


so i will put a bleed point on the thermostat housing and will be able to bleed it thru the overflow bottle on the rear

You need a bleed point in the engine bay as well as the radiator as water dosen't like going down and under the vehicle if there is an air lock, you have to get the air out of the engine or water will barely flow.

yeh i will make one on the thermostat housing that is the highest water point in the engine bay.
